"Yeah.. But I am free of handlers now. Ironically, the more you work your way up the less you fly. Till war breaks out anyway."
A barely noticeable smile appeared for a second before her serious expression returned.
"Mariana P. Sputnik. But just call me Mariana."
"Ah, I was a test pilot. They enhanced my body and mind and would send me up in the sky.."
She moved her hand up into the sky in an elegant arch, before making it tumble down.
"..But each time my wings of wax burned.."

The way Mariana spoke of it, it seemed she long had made peace with her scars. Or she was a good actress.
"You see, as stubborn as I may be.."
Mariana sighs. Talking about pilots as if they are no different from the fuel that makes their machines run was a grim way of talking about human life. She herself was a pilot, accomplished, but certainly no ace of aces.
"Right.. The devil's in the details."
A faint disdain was traceable in each word she spoke to the other. A pilot of Mariana her calibre was good, but thanks to her time in the air she had barely any of the docile qualities one wanted from a hound.
".. Your project seems to be held back by red tape."

Mariana stands upright as one would expect from a soldier. Not only was this job of scouting pilots a chore, she also felt a sense of disdain whenever she spoke of humans like livestock.
