Is there anything more ADHD than making a twitter account and then forgetting it exists for 5 months????
So many schools I visit don't even have the most basic, universal level support in place which would benefit EVERY child. I'd argue that around 50% of schools are not fit for any child, SEND or not.
The government is looking into how many schools are not being inclusive enough for children with SEND, a minister said
The DfE is 'looking at the extent to which it is happening, why it’s happening and whether there are any changes that need to be made'

Lots of autistic children vocal stim. Vocal stims, like humming, stimulate the vagus nerve & the parasympathetic nervous system to help bring calm. You should never stop a child stimming in any form, they are self regulating in their own way, which if you ask me is pretty clever
I trained in PECS 4 or 5 years ago and was so uncomfortable with what I'd learned, I've not implemented it once. I effectively paid for the course to learn exactly why I won't ever be using it in practice #ABAisAbuse

2. I often feel "less than" my colleagues, who somehow manage to work, have families, do housework, have social lives & not feel like they're drowning. I love my job, but work takes EVERYTHING out of me, and as a result my home is a mess, and I rarely go out with friends. #ADHD
#MySLTday there was a "Neurodiversity Questionnaire" sent around to staff today to "capture staff experience of #Neurodiversity in the #workplace". As a member of the team with #ADHD I think I'll share some of my experiences (good and bad) of being in a primarily NT team...
So does anyone know why the #nhspay deal is seemingly a surprise to the #government every. single. year?
2. The flip side to this is #hyperfocus. My job and the people I work with are my absolute #passion in life. It makes it easy for me to keep up with #evidencebasedpractice because I am obsessed with what I do!
1. #Passion. I worked really hard to get myself into a job I feel really passionate about, which includes my key interests - before I worked in #Neurodiversity and #trauma I had way less enjoyment in my job and often felt lost or bored.
