Optics matter. And when you represent a nation, looking presentable is not a choice - it is a responsibility. You can be brilliant, humble, accomplished and down-to-earth. But none of that excuses poor grooming or sloppy dressing, especially when welcoming a foreign dignitary. It is about making an effort, respecting the occasion and showing consideration for your guests. India must introduce and strictly enforce a formal dress and grooming code for ministers, bureaucrats and officials representing the country, particularly during diplomatic engagements and ceremonial occasions. Clear standards of attire, personal grooming and protocol should be non-negotiable.
