The right to protest is a critical element of any democracy. While we do not condone any action that breaks the law, we are shocked by the harsh sentences passed down to @JustStop_Oil activists, while those polluting our planet continue to go unsanctioned.

🚨Avoid the water in Portobello tomorrow🚨
I’m extremely concerned at the alert re the water in Portobello. This is a threat to human health.
Scottish Water is publicly owned. The Scottish Government should be stepping up, but they are missing in action (1/2)
@ScottishEPA is temporarily advising against bathing and paddling,at Portobello Beach from Pipe Lane to Joppa Rocks, due to the potential risk to human health. Signage has been posted at the area, and further details are available on our website, and SEPA: edinburgh.gov.uk/news/articl…

This is simply unacceptable. Something needs to be done urgently.

Feel free to lend a hand on the Water of Leith if you see any balsam
This week is invasive non-native species week or #INNSweek. One of our most common INNS in the catchment is Himalayan balsam. The good news is balsam is very easy & quite satisfying to clear, below Adam shows us how. Try it on your next riverside walk.

The monthly clean up of #Leith is complete.
Two large piles of rubbish collected on land and from the river to keep the end of the river looking lush.
Thanks to the local staff of @fireflycreate for lending a hand

Seals are often a common sight in Leith docks, but it's a first for us to hear one has worked it's way up to Redbraes weir.
Hopefully just on a fishing mission and will head back to sea after it's checked out the scenery.

But this should not be a job for volunteers. Where is the regulator?
