THE ISSUE IS ACCURACY.
SPOG did not create this payroll error, and our members are not looking to keep money they are not owed.
Before any repayment is made, the City must make sure its numbers are correct, account for unresolved underpayments, and ensure every affected SPOG member is treated fairly.
"We don't want money that isn't ours, but we do want to make sure that it's accurate and our members are treated fairly." - SPOG President Kent Loux

“It is critical that Seattle employees are paid accurately and on time.
Since the City implemented its new payroll system more than two years ago, SPOG has repeatedly raised concerns about inaccuracies in our members' pay, including underpayments that remain unresolved. SPOG members, along with other City employees, have also filed a class action lawsuit related to inaccurate pay and underpayment concerns. Now, the City has acknowledged another significant payroll error affecting hundreds of SPOG members.
SPOG members did not create these discrepancies, and they should be able to rely on the City to accurately calculate their wages.
We look forward to working with the City to carefully review these discrepancies, verify the accuracy of every affected member's pay, address outstanding underpayments, and ensure that any resolution is handled fairly and in accordance with our collective bargaining agreement and Washington law. Our members deserve an accurate paycheck and a payroll system they can trust.”

Mayor Katie's gun violence plan is long on programs and short on the one thing Seattle needs most: accountability.
Prevention matters. So do serious consequences for violent offenders.
Seattle already has a powerful tool to curb violence - its police officers. Give them the staffing, support, and freedom to do the job.
Let cops be cops.

SEATTLE NEEDS A PUBLIC SAFETY MAYOR.
After a deadly weekend in Belltown, SPOG President Kent Loux is calling for what Seattle desperately needs: consequences for criminals, a functioning justice system, and the public safety tools officers need to do their jobs.
The cameras were good enough for the World Cup. Why aren't they good enough for the people who live here?
Our officers are doing their job. City leaders need to start doing theirs.

SEVEN PEOPLE SHOT. THREE DEAD - IN ONE WEEKEND.
Cameras could help investigators. More officers could help prevent the next tragedy.
But when Mayor Katie continues to oppose proven public-safety tools, Seattle pays the price.
Katie: public safety requires accountability, staffing and technology - not excuses.

Seattle is already hundreds of officers short - now is not the time to eliminate proven recruiting incentives.
SPOG President Kent Loux spoke with FOX 13 Seattle and pushed back on ending the program, making the case that Seattle needs every effective tool available to attract qualified officers and rebuild staffing.

The polling is clear. Seattle voters want more police, faster 911 response times, expanded surveillance cameras and real action on open-air drug markets.
90% support more foot and bike patrols.
90% want the City to meet its 7-minute priority response standard.
75% support expanding Seattle’s public safety camera program.
So why isn’t Mayor Katie listening?
SPOG members are ready to do the job. Seattle residents are asking for the tools, staffing and policies that allow them to do it.
Public safety shouldn’t be complicated. Listen to the people of Seattle.

Here we go again, Mayor Katie.
Another violent shootout. Three city surveillance cameras within view. All turned off by the Mayor’s order.
SPOG warned what would happen when proven public safety tools were taken offline. Now Seattle is right back where we started.
Déjà vu.

SPOG members were ambushed with gunfire while pursuing suspects tied to armed robberies. They stayed in the fight, took the suspects into custody, and made it home safely.
Well done, SPOG. Back the officers who run toward the danger.

SPOG strongly supports the appointment of Interim Chief Andre Sayles.
Chief Sayles is reasonable, experienced and in touch with the rank and file. He understands policing, respects the officers doing the job and has earned a reputation as a cop’s cop.
SPOG members are confident in his leadership and enthusiastic about working with him to support proactive policing and make Seattle safer.
Congratulations, Chief Sayles. Let’s get to work.
