CC22 Iowa GameDay Anthem 🖤💛 Cinematic Edition
🖤💛 *Nothing Special to See Here… Yeah, Right!*
Caitlin Clark comes home. The Caitlin 1 makes its debut. ESPN College GameDay comes to Iowa City. And Hawkeye Nation shows the world what makes Iowa special.
From black-and-gold pride and the excitement of GameDay to the unforgettable Iowa Wave at Kinnick Stadium, this original CC22 Iowa GameDay Anthem celebrates more than basketball, football, or a pair of shoes.
It's about where you come from, the people who lift you up, and the little things that turn out to be the biggest things of all.
*Why the Cinematic Edition?*
After making the original Short, I came across the article “Dear WNBA: Caitlin Clark Would Never Say This, So We Will.” Reading it and the heartfelt letters from fans inspired me to make something more.
Instead of writing another letter, I decided to make mine a song and a video.
A letter to Iowa. To Hawkeye Nation. To the kids waving from the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. And to everyone who makes this place special.
*Some things you carry. Some things you keep.*
Thank you to the writers and community behind that article for the inspiration.
And most of all...
*THANK YOU, Caitlin Clark & IOWA . 🖤💛*
🌽 GO HAWKS!

Since we're in Van Horne ... how in the world has it been 10 years since that dynamite 2016 Benton team played?
If I did a top-5 of the teams I've covered, they'd be in there.

Iowa set a program record with 7 draft picks this season and they’re doing it the old fashioned way.
While an all-time high 48% of 2026 draft picks were transfers, Iowa didn’t have a single NCAA transfer. Kaden Wetjen played 1 year of JUCO ball. All 7 played 4+ years at Iowa.

I don’t get to cover the Big 10 often, so getting to cover Kirk Ferentz and that entire Iowa team for their bowl game was a true joy. You quickly come to learn the love and respect that exists within that building and the sustained success comes as a result. Great way to end it!

So happy seeing the response, because every kind word you've heard about John Campbell is true.
He's both a teacher and a friend. From covering the biggest events, to storytelling on the smallest fishing boats, no one outdoes him.
John, have a blast in "real" retirement!
