Burghley once had its own Fire Engine! The Merryweather, dating to 1930, is being restored by apprentices at Cummins Generator Technologies. With the engine refitted it will return to Burghley for finishing touches.

Recently we paid a visit to Knight Engine Services to view the progress on the Cylinder Heads.
We learnt about processes such as the de-coking process and pressure Testing. We also found that the cylinder heads are in good condition for their age with a few new parts required
