His first response to a Democratic landslide that he had little to do with is to bleat about finding ‘bipartisan common ground’. Do you think Republicans would be talking about bipartisanship if they had just secured the biggest House majority for decades? Sigh.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said that his party is “ready, willing and able to find bipartisan common ground” in order to work with Republicans on the ongoing affordability crisis. abcnews.visitlink.me/ymEF7Q

Every Democrat should give this a watch
NEW: Economic populism helped deliver impressive victories for Democrats across the nation. But those gains could be fickle and short-lived or long-lasting and durable. To keep and maintain working class majorities, here’s 5 specific ideas for what they need to do next.

This is not exactly true. I’ve spoken with House Democrats who have raised the name of Rep. @JoeNeguse and have even encouraged him to run. He has consistently told people he’s supporting Jeffries if he runs. In the event Jeffries runs into trouble, the sense is that he would be willing to be put forward.
No one serious has come forward to run against him. No one serious is even being floated. And casting aside the would-be first Black Speaker would be a gigantic “fuck you” to Black voters, the backbone of our party, who just turned out in absolute massive numbers post-Callais.

Update: Nearly 1 million people have now signed the petition to STOP HAKEEM JEFFRIES and Axios is reporting that House Democrats are receiving 500 calls a day to vote against him. The people are demanding to have a Speaker that does not take AIPAC or corporate money. It is not only a reasonable demand, but also a popular one with the majority of the country. Unfortunately, the people are about to learn that the Democratic party is not democratic at all and does not care what the people want. It only cares what corporations, billionaires, and Israel want, which is why they will ignore the will of the people and install both Jeffries and Schumer anyway. The people keep voting for the party looking for change and the party keeps resisting change to protect its corporate donors. The solution is to build power for the people outside the party, not to keep voting for a party that stabs us in the back for its donors over and over again.
November NBC News Poll: Chuck Schumer 13% Hakeem Jeffries 18% Donald Trump 33% The “Democratic” party is going to install Schumer as Leader and Jeffries as Speaker despite the fact that they have lower approval ratings than Donald Fucking Trump. Liberals got played so hard, but if it’s any consolation, everyone gets played by the duopoly. The function of both parties is not to serve the people, but to serve the rich and powerful.

One reason that Zohran Mamdani has been good for Democrats is he’s actually likable and not weird, unlike typical NYC mayors. And one reason AES will be good for Democrats is that he’s authentic and not weird. Haley Stevens was freakish, sorry.
I've been in politics for a quarter century. It's hard to express how staggering it is to see a conversation like this on corporate US media. The Morning Joe panel gobsmacked by the directness of @AbdulElSayed's points. (clip via @DropSiteNews)

When everyone was on their back foot in '25, Zohran changed the energy and found a formula for politics that was joyful, disciplined, and unafraid. Completely changed the game.
Americans are tired of being told their needs are unrealistic by politicians who have been bought by the wealthiest people in the country.

Notice that Schumer is pushing off a commitment to end the war until NEXT YEAR. But @VanHollenForMD and @RoKhanna are calling on Democrats to block the funding that comes with the continuing resolution on December 11th.
CNN: Schumer vows to end Iran war and investigate Trump when Democrats control Congress Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer vowed Democrats will end the war in Iran through the “power of the purse” next year when they take control of the Senate. “We are going to end the war. We’ve got some Republicans who have joined us in ending the war and the Founding Fathers had the power of the purse as one of the ways of deterring a president who does war without the consent of the American people,” Schumer said at a Capitol Hill news conference, a day after Democrats won the majority in the chamber.

One way to think about the election is that it was the @BernieSanders election - candidates channeled anti-oligarch populism and won. The other way to think about the election is that it was Dem voters' total rejection of the kind of corporate politics embodied by @RahmEmanuel.

Scott Colom is poised to do the impossible: flip Mississippi blue. He’ll be the first Black U.S. senator from Mississippi since Reconstruction. And when he does, it will be because of conversations like this. Going to MAGA rallies and talking to voters in line.

I agree that the reason Republicans lost is the Iran war. I would add the corruption epitomized by the Epstein cover up. Here is what I propose: 1. Support a continuing resolution prohibiting the financing of any combat activities of the U.S. military in Iran. End the Iran war like we did for Vietnam. 2. Support the zeroing out of all aid to Israel in the continuing resolution. 3. Support Massie and my Epstein 2.0 Act to allow state attorney generals to prosecute the pedophiles who abused and trafficked young girls. Will you actually now do any of these three things?
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

Looks like, El-Sayed won a super-majority of the Jewish vote in Michigan, getting 24% more of the vote than Mike Rogers. So the new argument will be: why didn't El-Sayed get 80% or 90% of the Jewish vote?

Pretty good evidence that Harris’s refusal to break with Biden on Gaza was wrong on both the policy and the politics.
Wow: El-Sayed outperforming Kamala Harris in Oakland County, heavily Jewish area, and Rogers underperforming Trump.

Among other things, this is an absolute rebuke of the war in Iran. Democrats would be wise to heed that lesson and truly become the anti-war party.
