For those who asked: Sauna and cold plunge in the video/photo are from Sisu. No issues having it indoors. I love the convenience (and that it doesn’t get super dirty/worn from weather).

Who are your roots? This idea from Tyler Perry that changed my life… There are three types of people in your life: Leaves: These are the people that are only around from time to time when the weather is good. They blow around as the winds change. They provide shade during the summer, but as soon as winter comes, they fall off the tree and disappear. Branches: These are the people who are more present and stable than the leaves, but they aren’t permanent. They look strong, but if you try to stand on them or pull yourself up from them, they may break under your weight. Roots: These are the people who are permanent. They are deep and wide. They are there in the summer and the winter, they are unperturbed by the changing seasons. The leaves and branches may come and go, but the roots are there forever. I love this perspective. There’s nothing wrong with having leaves and branches in your life. When times are good, they can bring joy to your world. But never make the mistake of thinking they will be there during the bad. The most important question: Who are your roots? Who are the people who will be there through good and bad? Who are the people who will sit in the mud with you? Find them. Cherish them. Be a root to someone else.

Underrated life advice: Keep a list of the people who believed in you early. The teacher who pushed you. The boss who took a chance. The friend who told you to go for it. Every now and then, reach out. Update them. And tell them just how much you appreciate what they did for you.

My entire life changed when I realized that anything above zero compounds. That showing up consistently matters more than showing up perfectly. That small things become big things. Never allow optimal to get in the way of beneficial.

Harsh truth nobody told you about success: Rent is due every single day. You never really make it. And coasting isn’t an option. Every single day, you have to fight to keep your seat at the table. Because the day you stop doing the work is the day things start to fall apart. There's an old saying that I love: Every morning in the savannah, the gazelle wakes up and knows it must outrun the lion or be killed. The lion wakes up and knows it must outrun the gazelle or starve. Whether you're the gazelle or the lion, when you wake up in the morning, you'd better start running. Rent is due daily. Pay it with pride.

Underrated relationship advice: Stop keeping score. Who called last. Who picked up the last check. Who apologized. Who did more. Whatever. Healthy relationships aren’t always 50/50. Sometimes they’re 90/10. Sometimes 25/75. They just need to add up to 100. It’s a partnership.

Two ways to feel richer: Earn More or Want Less. Everyone obsesses over the first. Nobody talks about the second. The person who falls in love with a simple life escapes the comparison traps that keep everyone on the treadmill. They’re free. Which was the real goal all along.

Underrated life advice: Just be easy to work with. Show up on time. Do what you said you'd do. Bring solutions, not problems. Never create drama. Be responsive. Be emotionally consistent. Be kind. People will always want to support someone who just makes their life easier.

Underrated life advice: Be more enthusiastic. One of the most attractive traits is genuine enthusiasm. It's energizing to spend time around people who show real excitement for life. For people, ideas, and tiny moments. It takes courage to care so openly. Enthusiasm is contagious.

The single best parenting lesson I ever received was through an interaction with my dad when I was 12. I’d tried out for this baseball all star team. The coaches called to say they were taking 16 players and I was the 17th on the list. I didn't make it. I was devastated. It was my first real experience with a failure. I went to my room crying. My dad walked into my room and sat next to me. He said: "I know you're upset. I get it. But here are the three things the coaches said you needed to work on. Let's go out every day this summer and work on them together." And we did. He took me out to the local field damn near every single day that summer. He’d get home from a long day of work and I’d be waiting with a bucket of balls, bat, and glove. We’d play until it was too dark to see. At the time, I didn’t think anything of it. Now, as a parent myself, I realize the energy it required for him to come home and do that, day after day. I came back the next year a completely different player. Years later, when I got a scholarship to play at Stanford, I still thought back to that summer as the turning point. It took me having my own son to realize the parenting lesson in all of this. My dad had two options in that moment: 1. Tell me the coaches were idiots. They were wrong. They made a mistake. I was the best player. 2. Acknowledge my disappointment. Reframe it as a growth opportunity. Support me to go after it. It would have been easier to choose Option 1. I would have been happier to hear it. But it would have had a lasting negative impact on my life. There was a big difference between what I wanted to hear and what I needed to hear. My dad subtly reframed that failure as an opportunity. Then he showed up to help me capitalize on it. He handed me my agency in that moment and made sure I never let it go. I'll never forget that. Today is his 71st birthday. I couldn’t be more grateful for the life and legacy he’s created. Happy Birthday, Dad. I love you.

Nobody tells you this: Routines have a dark side. When your routines become too rigid and complicated, they become a source of stress. Routines meant to serve you can start to feel like they own you. I try to follow a 90-10 rule: - 90% disciplined compliance - 10% open flexibility That means 90% of the time, I'm locked in with my structure, but 10% of the time, I give myself the space to let life happen freely. It's directional more than exact. Just a rough compass in the back of my mind. I used to struggle a lot with being too dogmatic in my routines. I’d get routine anxiety. My 90-10 rule changed that for me. The 90% keeps me structured and in flow. The 10% gives me the space to embrace serendipitous opportunities and adapt to random chaos of life. Routines should serve your life. Not own it. Highly recommend adopting a 90-10 approach.

Underrated life advice: Always default to praise of people who aren’t in the room. The way you talk about someone who’s not in the room is a loud signal about the energy you carry. Say something kind. Specific. Or nothing at all. Negativity does more harm to you than anyone else.

Underrated life advice: It’s perfectly ok to live a life that looks confusing to others. Wake up early. Do hard things. Focus deeply. Eat real foods. Go on long walks. Obsess over one thing. Read old books. Avoid drama. Save money. Love your people. Recipe for a good life.

Life advice I learned from sports: Entitlement erodes respect faster than failure. Nobody owes you anything. Special treatment. Softer rules. Automatic recognition. Whatever. You have to win your spot. Be grateful for every opportunity to do so. Respect is earned, not given.

My friends & I have a mantra: better at 70 Everything in life you do compounds. Many of those you will not know the benefits (or costs of) until later Skincare is one of those. You don’t want to have to get started once it’s too late Gotta protect the money maker !! Came across @wildromanskin earlier this year it’s been my go-to one-stop-shop routine
