Vrijeme je da se svijet ujedini u dobru. Ne znam za vas, ali ovo što se dešava desničarima širom svijeta mi vraća malo nade. Godinama gledamo kako politika mržnje i podjela dominira. Ima još posla ali imam osjećaj da je ljudima dosta. I drago mi je što je taj otpor sve jači.

This would be insane.
Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. “Bibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer. Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war. To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha. The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent. A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people. And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final. We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called “battlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it. Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made. They’re right, though it won’t be simple. The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making. One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population — the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.

This Sunday’s vote in 🇷🇸 is a referendum on #Serbia itself. Will the country stay dominated by Aleksandar #Vučić and his supporters, or will an alternative, in the loose form of the #StudentLIST, come out on top. What drives those campaigning for the alternative is the sense of a captured state, of corruption and nepotism. It is not about 🇷🇸's place in the region, its past or future role, its relations with 🇽🇰, 🇧🇦, 🇲🇪 or 🇭🇷, or where Belgrade stands in today's #Europe and the #world. Yet whatever happens on Sunday will shape exactly that. Not at once, and probably not in the direction I would hope. A few thoughts on Sunday's elections, for #DW, in Serbian language. 🔗 danas.rs/svet/sta-bih-ocekuj…

Let’s be clear about what happened in this interview. Mr. Dodik boasts about the 2025 deal he struck with the U.S. administration for it to lift sanctions against him as well as remove Christian Schmidt as High Representative. As Mr. Dodik describes it, his U.S. interlocutors didn’t know what they were doing because they asked him only for the repeal of RSNA legislation that had already been annulled by the BiH Constitutional Court. Mr. Dodik then played on his U.S. interlocutors’ ignorance by making an additional demand – Schmidt’s removal – which American officials accepted. Mr. Dodik’s description makes his U.S. interlocutors look foolish; he essentially makes them look like a bunch of suckers. Mr. Dodik’s assertions also directly undercut the administration’s claims about its negotiating prowess and how its brilliant diplomacy put and an end to BiH’s political crisis. The administration repeated these claims at the September 15 House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on the administration’s BiH policy. Finally, and to add insult to injury, Mr. Dodik describes how he celebrated his diplomatic triumph over his American interlocutors in Russia. If Mr. Dodik’s intention was to make his new found American friends look like fools, he succeeded. At a minimum, he blew a large whole in their claims about U.S. BiH policy and how it has been made. Mr. Dodik also handed the administration’s critics some terrific material for oversight hearings should they occur after the U.S. mid-terms. This comes on the heels of the American political scandal he just provoked over the visit to Banja Luka by Republican political operatives. What the interview underscores is just how much arrogance Mr. Dodik possesses and how little judgment.
This evening Milorad #Dodik told his side of the story on the negotiations that led to the lifting of 🇺🇸 sanctions and Christian #Schmidt’s resignation, as well as how he celebrated the lifting of 🇺🇸 sanctions in a #Moscow restaurant. Full transcript: Milorad Dodik: "So at one point we told them [Trump administration]: 'You're deceiving us, we don't want this any more — thank you.' They said: 'No, no, we're not deceiving you.' I said: 'If you're not deceiving us, then lift also the sanctions put on me.' Then they said: 'Hold on.' We told them: 'OK, what are you missing?' And then they asked for those two or three laws — the ones the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina had struck down, laws of Republika Srpska. I said: 'Okay, the Court repealed them anyway; we'd have to go back to the assembly and do a lot of other things.' But I said: 'Fine, but that's too little from your side.' So they said: 'How is it small?’ We said ‘It's small.' Then they said: 'What else is needed?' Then I said: 'Get rid of this Schmidt.'" Journalist: “And the Americans listen to you?”
Dodik: "Well, I don't know if they listen to me, but in any case — he's gone now." Journalist: “And did they kick him out?”
Dodik: [laughs] "No, no — I don't think they listen to me. Let's just say that circumstances were created." Journalist: “Wait, wait. You say: get rid of that Schmidt — and he leaves, right?”
Dodik: "Well, circumstances came together." Journalist: “And who told him to go?”
Dodik: "You know — the one who was supposed to say it." Journalist: “The one with the cap [Donald Trump]?”
Dodik: "Someone said it. Anyway, when he [Schmidt] went over to America, they told him: 'You've finished your job, you can go straight to Germany.' Then he cried and asked just to go and collect his things in Sarajevo. And that's how it went — he went, picked up his things, and disappeared." Journalist: “What did you drink in Moscow? Do you mix whisky and vodka?”
Dodik: "We were flying from Minsk to Moscow. When we boarded the plane, there was no talk of it [lifting of sanctions]. We land at Moscow airport. A message comes through: all sanctions lifted. And that's how we found out. And of course, then came the hunt for a good restaurant — and for Serbian music. There was a student of ours there studying music; we gathered them all in one restaurant and celebrated the lifting of the sanctions. That's true. What else could we do? I couldn't wait until I got back to Banja Luka. We had to celebrate..." Journalist: Well, where else?
Dodik: "[We're] true Serbs." Journalist: “And did you mix whisky and vodka? I'm not asking for no reason.”
Dodik: "Once I've had a bit to drink, then I no longer [keep track]..." Source: youtu.be/UlJucPz2BW0

Playing with fire in 🇧🇦 EU enlargement policy must succeed also on the Drina. Murderous and hateful stories of the past are climbing out of their graves again, like Zombies. The EU could still banish them; and succeed, with a credible vision how to implement the promises made in summer 1999 at the Sarajevo summit, of a Balkans in which war becomes unthinkable through integration. esiweb.org/newsletter/celebr… @vonderleyen @KubiliusA @MartaKosEU @magnusbrunner @adicerimagic @EuMordue @adam_alec
Milorad #Dodik got what he wanted on Sunday. Both his candidates won — for the Republika Srpska and the state-level presidencies — and at the entity level his party (might) finish around five points stronger than in 2022. "Had it not been for Donald #Trump's magnificent victory, we would probably be political dead men today," Dodik told reporters. He thanked Vladimir #Putin [and Benjamin #Netanyahu] for the support, euphorically repeating his aim of dismantling most of 🇧🇦's state-level institutions, and, through a post shared by his daughter, floated himself as the next entity prime minister. In my reaction for the @FinancialTimes I made three quick points: Dodik was the night's biggest "winner"; his aims must be taken seriously rather than dismissed as bluster; and the "Christians vs Muslims" narrative he uses to court Western right-wing circles is dangerous. The next four years will be a major test for 🇧🇦's constitutional order [and if current trends continue: for peace itself]. This goes beyond 🇧🇦. With elections looming in 🇮🇱, the 🇺🇸 and several key European states, friends of the Balkans need to take all of this into account, and act. 🔗 ft.com/content/4ab13290-5208…

People don’t realise that Israeli interference in Bosnia is not only a knife at Europe’s throat, but a threat to the Balkans. By encouraging Serb separatism, Israel is telling Europe it is willing to help plunge the Balkans back into bloodshed - and spill Balkan blood to do it!
