I schooled in Onitsha High School, Onitsha. One morning, the principal Mrs Julie Ofoefuna informed us that Mr Peter Obi was coming to our school because the Senior Prefect called him and reported that the school building was at the verge of collapse which was true. We thought it was a joke because my school was one of the local schools then, we said” the governor has not finished visiting CKC, DMGS, St Charles, QRC”etc these are best schools then.
By 12:00pm that day, he landed with Dr Kay Onyechi the state commissioner of basic education, he inspected the school. He said he will return after two weeks. Two weeks passed we didn’t see him, we took his words as normal Nigeria politicians 😭😭😂.On the third week which was school closing period, he landed. He came like a thief, no motorcades or sirens blowing ” he apologized for coming after two weeks, he said when he learnt that the school was in exam period, he decided to wait but to come after exam. In the end, he gave more than enough for the school renovation. He asked us what we wanted for lunch, nobody could mention any reasonable food. He gave each student ₦100 for snacks.
As a governor of Anambra, every senior prefect in the state had a direct contact with Governor Peter Obi. Why? He wanted them to report what was wrong in their schools directly to him, if you call him, he would personally come and check it out. The man’s humility and simplicity is not performative. It’s really somehow that over a decade later he comes out to contest elections in the country and you’re seeing videos of him carrying his bags like he has always done and you’re calling it “performative and theatrics”. He’s not even doing it for you to applaud him. Baba is just being him.

Deliberately falsifying national voters register is a treasonable offence. It’s an intentional act to subvert the legitimacy thrust by the people.

In 2024, Governor Okpebholo's polling unit had 397 voters on the register. In 2026, it has 4,783.
That's 4,386 new voters, a 1,105% increase.

1. This interview was published on the 14th of March 2015, about 2 weeks before the general election that brought Buhari to power.
2. Goodluck Jonathan was still President, and Peter Obi spent essentially the entire interview defending his government and urging Nigerians to reject Buhari and the APC. The idea that he was sucking up to Buhari for his personal benefit, or somehow seeking a path into the APC, is plainly false, as I am sure you know.
3. The video you posted cleverly cuts a longer segment where he actually criticizes the APC and casts doubt on Buhari’s ability to tackle corruption if he takes over from Jonathan.

I am trying to hold myself not to start cursing anybody, but, the continuous killing of innocent and bright souls amongst us by avoidable circumstances must not only be investigated but the perpetuators be brought to book.
Ibrahim one of the victims of this circumstance is not just a friend but a brother, who was already contributing meaningfully to the development of the state only to be killed by the convoy of the State Governor all in the name of running to nowhere.
Emmanuel who is a recent graduate of FUTMx, an orphan and a first child of his family refuses to go home after graduation in order to be able to hustle and sponsor his siblings and his mother, now his life was not only cut short, but the family that's dependent on him are now mourning.
