About four years ago, two young people from MUBAS approached me with a business idea and asked me to come in as an investor. I told them I was interested, but as a silent partner with equity in the business. I bought 50% for only MK2.3 million, which was the entire budget they needed to get their project off the ground. Over the years, I have put in around MK5 million more in smaller payments.
Last week, the business got paid for one of its contracts, and my share was MK30,750,000.
The funny thing is that there were times when I thought this brilliant idea would never pay off. So, what kept me going? I have built many things from scratch and I have had people believe in me, and because of that, I have always believed in startups, especially when the ideas come from ambitious, motivated young people who are willing to put in the work.
Over the next few years, I want to deliberately invest smaller amounts of money in brilliant ideas and promising young people. Some of those investments may pay off in three years, others in ten years, and some may never pay off at all. That is the nature of investing in ideas at their earliest stages. But sometimes, all a brilliant idea needs is someone willing to believe in it before everyone else does!
Been watching a tv series from the UK, I’m 10 episodes in and I haven’t heard a single person say ‘init’ lol🤣fascinating!

Mr. President, you're a good man. You are showing us what real leadership means. The State of the Nation address you presented in Parliament this morning was excellent, straight to the point, specific, measurable, and results-oriented. That is the kind of leadership we need. I have hope that our country is heading in the right direction.
However, when appointing people to key positions that must fight corruption, it seems to me that some appointments undermine your stance.
You appointed people with a clear track record of allegedly bribing judges, people accused of corruption, with live files of their own at the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
That aspect makes it hard for some of us to reconcile your commitment to fight corruption with the nature of the people you have appointed to such positions.
It is my hope and prayer that you will take a hard look at such personalities and make changes that match your stance with action.
I thank you.
