Sancho, Reiss Nelson AND Anthony Martial are all free agents. Sancho would be the obvious statement signing, but the wages could be a problem. Nelson is the one I’d seriously look at. 26, Premier League experience, can play either wing and no transfer fee. Feels like exactly the sort of opportunity we should be exploring. Martial at 30 could also be an interesting option. Everton could be cooking here. 👀🔵 Balogun in. Grealish back. Maitland-Niles agreed from Lyon for around £4.2m. And there was a serious push for Jamie Leweling too. For anyone who doesn’t know Leweling — 25-year-old German winger/forward at Stuttgart. 7 goals & 9 assists in 32 Bundesliga games last season. Can play either flank, quick, direct, strong runner and a proper threat in the final third. His numbers actually compare very well with Grealish, particularly for goals, assists, chance creation and dribbling. £40m+ is big money, but he looks exactly the sort of player who could replace Ndiaye and give us more end product. Maitland-Niles is a different type of signing but makes plenty of sense. 29, Premier League experience, 79 appearances for Lyon and can cover both full-back and midfield. £4.2m for that versatility is decent business. Unfortunately Leweling looks like he’s turned Everton down, but Balogun + Grealish + Maitland-Niles is still a serious amount of business late in the window.
