“No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.” 1 John 3:9
Are you at home in the practice of sin? Or has sin become a foreign land where you feel out of place?

FAT32, the file system your USB sticks and SD cards have been quietly putting up with since the 90s, is getting up to a 265x speedup in Linux 7.4. And the fix is basically "stop doing it one at a time."
Matheus Alves de Almeida from UFRGS in Brazil noticed that when you preallocate space on FAT (fallocate with FALLOC_FL_KEEP_SIZE), the kernel grabbed clusters one by one in a while loop. On a sync mount, that means writing the FAT table back to disk for every single cluster. Tens of thousands of tiny trips to the disk just to reserve a few megabytes.
His patch swaps the loop for a single fat_add_clusters() call. Net change in fs/fat/file.c: +4 lines, -6 lines.
The numbers: sixteen 16 MiB files with 4 KiB clusters on a sync mount went from 92.489 seconds to 0.348 seconds. Even without sync, it's 5x to 19x faster.
In his words: "The improvement is especially large on synchronous mounts, where the new code can batch FAT updates instead of synchronously handling each cluster allocation separately."
It won't make ordinary file copies faster. It's preallocation only, so think embedded devices, cameras and anything that reserves space up front. Andrew Morton sent it to Linus in his non-MM pull, and it's now in Linux 7.4.

Justification by faith alone is the beautiful, essential consequence of the all-sufficiency of Christ, the only Saviour.

Preste atenção no contexto e deixe a Palavra falar.

currently Obsidian for Android requires full file access permissions because it's necessary for certain third-party sync tools and interoperability — but some users prefer narrower permissions
in an upcoming version we're adding this option, do the tradeoffs make sense here?

ALT Vault location Pick a location for your new vault Device storage - Requires additional permissions. - Allows Obsidian data to be accessed by other apps. - Works with third-party sync tools. Obsidian app folder - Android will delete your data if you uninstall Obsidian. - Your data will not be accessible to other apps.

Hitler, Musk, and the Art of the Smear
"As nonfiction authors of books about the Third Reich, and as cofounders of @AntisemitismOrg, a nonprofit that monitors anti-Jewish hate worldwide, we know real Nazi and fascist rhetoric and actions. There are plenty of fanatics who are nostalgic about Hitler. But in the far left arsenal of tools to resist Trump, claims about some Nazi-association are a preferred way of going on the offensive . . . . Those who disagree with Trump’s policies have every right to take him and his administration to task. However, the Nazi analogies feed a dangerous and false narrative. Moreover, their cavalier and inauthentic use denigrates the memory of those who died in the Holocaust from history’s real Nazis.
Stop it already. If not, the Democratic party might find itself alienating more voters who are looking for substantive policy differences and not the basest types of ad hominem attacks.”

Priorities for my personal site:
1. I can write and publish directly from Obsidian
2. I can preview the site offline
3. I can switch hosts easily, all the data is in my control
For a personal site I find that CMSes like Wordpress, Squarespace, and Webflow, add too much complexity and liability, while being less customizable. Friction has to be super low, otherwise I won't update it.
Instead learn to use a static site generator. There are many options: Jekyll, Hugo, Quartz, Astro, Eleventy, etc. It's become simple to build and deploy them. Once you have it set up, everything else is a breeze.
