UPDATED (again) Facing a second day of intense questioning, Mr Rolfe said he was "not at all" concerned by findings of a Local Court judge that he lied, lacked credibility and likely "deliberately banged" a man's head into the floor during an arrest.
UPDATED: In a tense exchange with counsel assisting, Mr Abbott KC argued many of Mr Rolfe's text messages read aloud in court were irrelevant to the inquest. "This is not a royal commission into my client, even though sometimes it sounds like it," Mr Abbott KC said.

The scale of the fires currently burning across northern Australia is pretty unfathomable. This animation visualises just the last two months of fire captured by #DEAHotspots - for context, the map covers an area larger than France, Spain and Germany combined...

It’s a long-standing complaint that journalists sometimes find dealing with @DefenceAust difficult but I don’t think many people realise just how bad it is despite the expenditure of millions of taxpayer dollars (thread)

Why we need to deliberately re-tell and remember the stories of our dark past… even if they make us uncomfortable. @RMIT Journalism lecturer @Tito_Ambyo absolutely nails it here. It’s one of the driving principles of our podcast #Firebomb #UnravelTrueCrime
For my digital journalism course in Australia, I used SBS' online version of the Cronulla Riots doco as an example. I was surprised, though, to hear that most students haven't heard about the event. It seems when it comes to racism, Australia has a VERY short historical memory.
