National First Responders Day
Today we honor the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and School Resource Officers (SROs) who answer the call when our schools and communities need them most.
Your courage keeps our students, teachers, and families safe.
Special PV moment #6: Read Across America
Literacy is fundamental to learning. One of the best parts of the last four years has been reading to students at Indian Bend and Liberty Elementary Schools and other schools. Those little faces lighting up over a story still make me smile. Simple, but it matters.
The State Board released the 2025-2026 A-F School Letter Grades today. Find grades, an FAQ, and more:

This is the last year under the current scoring system. Board-approved revisions will take effect with the 2026-2027 release.
Special PV moment #5: Graduations
Graduation has been one of my favorite parts of serving on the board. I’ve loved every ceremony, but nothing compared to my son’s 2024 Horizon High School graduation.
I got to sign his diploma, give the speech, and then hand it to him with a big hug on stage. He even took a selfie with me while we were up there. That moment still makes me smile. It was one of the real highlights of my time on the board.
More special PV moments still to come.
Happy 85th birthday to my beautiful mama! 85 years young and still the heart of our family. Grateful for your love, strength, and all the years of putting us first. Love you so much. ❤️🎂
Horizon High neighbors and Oasis Church family, Coy and I just finished helping set up for our Country Fair. Join us today, Sunday, October 25, at 5 PM at 56th Street, south of Greenway, across from Horizon High School. Free to attend and open to everyone. Bring everyone you love and invite a neighbor!
Special PV moment #4:
Six straight years of Broadway Under the Stars at Horizon High School. From the 2020 COVID show—where those kids performed the entire thing in full masks—to last year’s legacy performance that brought alumni back from all over the country, and last night’s 2026 show as I finish my final year on the board.
Horizon’s choir program is nationally recognized, and after six years in the audience I can see exactly why. These students never stop impressing me.
