We are honoured to welcome @frankcottrell_b at 1pm on Thurs June 18th for a publication day celebration - Frank will be joining us to sign copies of his new book A British Childhood. No ticket required - just come along, buy your copy & get it signed by Frank & have a chat!
Ok that's it. I'm done on here. I'm not closing my account down - in the vain hope that it becomes worth returning to, but I won't be posting or checking in. If you want me/need me I'm on Threads and Insta (& BlueSky too occasionally!) Stay safe, be kind! Love & hope to all❤️xxx

It has been leaked that Nigel Farage and his lovely wife secretly paid for Christmas dinner for every pensioner in a small coastal town, arranging turkey, trimmings and mince pies to be delivered on Christmas Eve with no name attached.
Staff were told to say the food came ‘from someone who didn’t want thanks, just a proper Christmas’ and the only clue was a handwritten note in each bag: Keep warm, put the kettle on, and Merry Christmas ❤️
@Nigel_Farage @reformparty_uk you are a true gentleman…

There is no credible evidence this happened.
There are 16,000 pensioners living in Clacton, a third of the population, and even the local MP wouldn't be given their names and addresses under GDPR.

For 16 years until 2014 Julie Hesmondhalgh played a trans woman called Hayley Cropper on Coronation Street. Nobody screamed. Nobody rioted. There was no national meltdown. People just watched the show and got on with their lives.
During those same years Helen Joyce worked at The Economist and Maya Forstater was a tax advisor and JK Rowling just wrote books.
Oh and Nadia won Big Brother!
So what changed.
Not trans people.
The only thing that changed was the hate campaign.

45 years ago we lost John Lennon. Tonight the light shines in the window of his childhood bedroom at Mendips, just around the corner from Strawberry Field Liverpool.
Thank you to Andy from @nationaltrust for sharing this special moment of remembrance. 🤍
Ah man no!!!! I absolutely adored Martin Parr - me & my dad saw The Last Resort in the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead in 1986 & because it was photos of New Brighton we thought for years he was “from round here…” A huge talent, a real loss 💔 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg5m…

Amazing anecdote from David Mamet about Tom Stoppard in @TheFP:
"Steven Spielberg asked Tom to write the screenplay for Jaws, and Tom said he couldn’t as he was writing a play for the BBC. Spielberg said, 'I'm offering you a fortune to collaborate with me on a Hollywood blockbuster, and you turn me down to write a play for BBC TV?"
"No," Tom said, "BBC Radio."
