Well, when was the last time you bought something in real life and were told you’re not allowed to resell it or give it away? Because this type of gatekeeping is currently happening in mainstream gaming. We love gaming a lot and it has greatly influenced how we perceive digital items. Over time, we have started to view these digital items as equally valuable to items in real life. Something as simple as a hat you can wear in-game holds as much value as one you’d wear in real life. Yet, in every mainstream game, you cannot own your items. Technically, you’re “renting” the items. It frustrates us that we can't have ownership of items that we've purchased. When we buy something, we want to be free to do what we want with it! In some yearly iterations, they will sell us the same exact digital items with nothing changed, then delete your account 2 years later, and you have no items. In all mainstream multiplayer games, we earn or buy a game item, but we can’t transact with other players freely. Now, it doesn’t make sense in all games, but majority of games go out of their way to restrict such freedom with their items. On the other hand, we're happy to encourage our onchain economy in KOMPETE. The Grand Opening Over the past month we have been testing Konvert exclusively with our Founding Fathers. We’re happy to report that Konvert is ready to go! So for the first time tomorrow, July 18th, we will be opening up Konvert officially and lowering the requirements! How to Use Konvert Step 1: Create your KOMPETE account and start collecting game items. You can earn them by playing or buy them from the shops using a credit card or crypto! Step 2: Sign into your KOMPETE account on our website and connect a wallet under ‘Profile’ in the menu. You’ll need ~$1 of Eth in your wallet on the Base Network. Step 3: Head to the ‘Locker’ page and look for the ‘Konvert’ tab. Step 4: Meet eligibility requirements. We have some requirements to help keep out bots and bad actors. It’s not super hard to be eligible, and we’ll keep looking to add more options to qualify in the future. Step 5: Use the switch at the top of the page to ensure you are on the Base Chain. Step 6: Select any of your offchain game items and hit the ‘Konvert’ button when you’re ready. Step 7: Congratulations, your game items are now onchain! Soon, you can head to the Bazaar and get trading. The secondary market is a whole new game you can play!
