Residents of large housing townships near Hinjawadi IT Park have raised alarm over a growing public health threat, alleging that contaminated water is being drawn directly from the heavily polluted Mula river. With no alternative source or municipal pipeline connection, thousands of families say they are forced to depend on river water for daily use, as private tankers cannot meet the massive demand. Park Titan, with about 3,500 flats and 10,000 to 12,000 residents, and Blue Ridge, with 5,000 flats and 17,000 residents, are among the worst affected. Yellow-coloured water keeps flowing from taps, and the yellow-water problem, which usually appears in December or January, started in late September this year. TDS levels are reportedly around 500, even with township filtration systems in place.
Residents say three years of complaints to the gram panchayat, MPCB, PMRDA and the irrigation department, along with a silent march in 2024, have brought no lasting fix. They allege untreated sewage, industrial effluents and garbage keep entering the river, and point to a non-functional MIDC sewage treatment plant. Bloodworms were spotted in tap water in January 2024, and dead fish and an oily film were reported in September. MPCB officials met residents on Tuesday, said notices have gone to PMRDA, gram panchayats and MIDC, and a collector meeting is scheduled this week. The board admitted most villages along the river have no treatment facility, and PMRDA has now planned STPs for them. For families who own homes here and still drink river water, this is not a civic inconvenience, it is a health emergency.

₹230 Crore Approved for Phulewada Development in Pune | Major Heritage Project
The Maharashtra government has approved a ₹230 crore proposal for the comprehensive development of Phulewada, the historic residence of social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule in Pune. The decision comes ahead of his 200th birth anniversary.
The development plan includes beautification of the existing premises and acquisition of additional land to improve and develop the entire heritage site.
In another important decision, the government has also directed that the memorial at Bhidewada, where Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule started the first school for girls, be completed within the next three weeks.
These decisions were taken during a special meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Other Backward Classes, chaired by the Revenue Minister.
The announcement brings renewed attention to two historically significant places in Pune associated with the contribution of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule to social reform and education.

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is planning to build five new bus depots in Pune and expand five existing ones to accommodate nearly 2,500 new buses expected to join its fleet in the coming months. The new depots will come up at Sutarwadi, behind Eklavya College in Kothrud, Kondhwa, Mohammadwadi and Bibwewadi, while the depots at Balewadi, Shewalewadi, Market Yard, Kothrud and Kumbare Park will get more capacity. Under the PM E-DRIVE scheme, the depots will get cabling and electrical infrastructure for electric bus charging, and PMPML aims to finish cabling and concreting at all five existing locations before December. The PMPML CMD met the PMC commissioner last week, and the commissioner agreed to hand over land reserved for the transport undertaking.
PMPML currently has 2,072 buses, of which around 1,760 are available for service. It runs 385 routes across 7,256 sq km, employs about 8,500 staff, carries around 12 lakh passengers daily and earns roughly Rs 1.5 crore in daily passenger revenue. Commuters say they often wait long for buses during peak hours and connectivity in developing localities remains weak. If the new depots help put more buses on the road, daily travel gets easier and dependence on private vehicles drops. The real test is whether the depots are ready before the buses arrive.

Woke up at around 6:30 AM today to find garbage being burnt in the open. The fire had also spread to the nearby trees and bushes, putting the surrounding vegetation at risk.
We have posted videos of garbage burning at this same spot multiple times in the past, but unfortunately, no effective action has been taken so far.
Now the situation is getting worse, with nearby trees and bushes also catching fire.
@PMCPune @PuneCityPolice
How many more times do we need to report this before action is taken?
Requesting PMC to intervene immediately, stop the garbage burning and take strict action against those responsible.

Pune’s Next Bridge? Wadgaon Sheri–Mundhwa Bridge Update | SaudaGhar Latest Pune Infrastructure Update
Pune could get another important river crossing connecting Wadgaon Sheri and Mundhwa. A new bridge has been proposed over the Mula-Mutha River near Tadigutta Chowk. But when will it receive final approval, and what will its actual construction cost be?
In this video, SaudaGhar explains the latest project details and compares the proposal with the Kharadi–Keshavnagar Bridge, which had a reported project cost of ₹23.20 crore.
The PMC Budget 2026–27 reportedly includes a provision of ₹4.25 crore for the proposed Tadigutta Bridge. However, this is a budget provision, not the confirmed final construction cost. The actual cost will become clearer as the project progresses through planning, approvals and the tendering process.
Connectivity improvements are also underway along the route towards Hadapsar, behind Magarpatta. The planned road development includes a four-lane road and service lanes on both sides, with the route expected to connect towards Solapur Highway.
The key questions remain: When will the Wadgaon Sheri–Mundhwa Bridge receive final approval? How much will construction actually cost? And how soon will these connectivity improvements become a reality?
Environmental concerns, including the impact on green areas near the river, also need careful consideration.
Watch the full reel and share your opinion in the comments. Will this bridge become a reality soon, or will it remain on paper?

PMRDA is targeting completion of land acquisition for its 83.12 km stretch of the proposed Pune-Pimpri Chinchwad ring road by December end with land measurements already completed in three villages and active discussions underway with farmers across Maval, Mulshi and Haveli talukas to expedite the process. The 122.82 km ring road first included in the regional plan in 1997 is designed to allow heavy vehicles travelling to and from other regions to bypass Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad entirely, easing congestion on city roads, with MSRDC responsible for the remaining 39.70 km stretch. The ring road will connect major highways leading to Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Solapur and Satara as well as the Pune-Bengaluru corridor.
PMRDA has said it will prioritise consensual land purchase over compulsory acquisition with farmers who voluntarily surrender land eligible to receive higher compensation based on average sale transactions recorded over the preceding three years. For Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad commuters who endure daily congestion partly caused by heavy vehicles passing through city roads, the December land acquisition target is the most concrete timeline the ring road project has seen since it was first conceived nearly three decades ago. The real test however will be how many of the farmers across three talukas agree to voluntary land surrender within the tight December deadline and whether PMRDA can translate completed measurements and ongoing discussions into actual possession before the year is out.

Why Is Mahavitaran Charging Extra? ⚡ | Electricity Bill Explained
You pay your electricity bill every month, but why does Mahavitaran sometimes ask you to deposit thousands of rupees extra?
In this SaudaGhar consumer awareness reel, we explain Additional Security Deposit, why it is charged and how it is calculated under Maharashtra's MERC regulations.
Mahavitaran recalculates the required security deposit based on your average electricity bill over the previous 12 months. The required deposit is generally equivalent to two months of the average bill. If your existing deposit falls short, the difference may be demanded as an Additional Security Deposit. Consumers may also have the option to pay this amount in six equal monthly instalments, subject to applicable rules.
There is another important point many consumers may not know. The security deposit earns interest under the applicable regulations, with the rate linked to the RBI Bank Rate.
But if consumers are already paying their monthly bills regularly, should they not receive a clear breakdown of the calculation, the deposit already held by the company and the interest credited?
What is your opinion? Is this system fair, or does it need more transparency?

Connecting Link's Rockfall Protection Work 60% Complete
Rockfall protection work on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway’s Connecting Link is 60% complete. MSRDC officials expect completion by the end of November.
The work began after a major landslide on July 6 sent large boulders, some weighing nearly 20 tonnes, onto the road near Tunnel 2, causing a 20-hour traffic jam.
Safety measures include additional rockfall barriers, high-tensile steel mesh and improved water channelling on the hillside to help prevent falling rocks. After the incident, IIT Bombay examined the hillside and recommended further protection measures.
According to MSRDC officials, the new system is designed to withstand an extreme weather event with a 1-in-1,000-year probability, compared with the 1-in-100-year benchmark used for the original protection system. Work slowed during heavy monsoon rainfall, but officials say it remains on track for November-end.
Officials reported a 25% reduction in accidents and said 1.25 crore vehicles had used the Connecting Link in the last six months. Around 75% of vehicles on the expressway now use this route.
Traffic rules from November 1: Goods vehicles, including light commercial vehicles, and vehicles carrying hazardous materials must use the original expressway route. Cars and other non-transport light motor vehicles can use the Connecting Link at up to 100 km/h, while passenger buses are limited to 80 km/h.
Motorists should follow the notified route restrictions and speed limits.

The Public Works Department PWD has prepared a Rs 227 crore plan for three flyovers and a grade separator to ease chronic traffic congestion around Hinjawadi after more than three years of delay during which multiple departments passed responsibility for the Laxmi Chowk flyover without action. The plan includes an 850 metre flyover and a 520 metre grade separator at Laxmi Chowk, a 590 metre four-lane flyover connecting Laxmi Chowk and Bhumkar Chowk at Vinodenagar Chowk and a 740 metre four-lane flyover connecting Laxmi Chowk to Marunji near Gurukrupa Hospital Chowk. PWD superintendent engineer confirmed a proposal has been sent to the state government for approval with the next steps to be decided after approval and fund allocation. The original plan was for a single Laxmi Chowk flyover but additional structures were included to provide a comprehensive traffic flow solution for the entire Hinjawadi corridor.
IT professionals and activists welcomed the plan but raised concerns over the unclear timeline for actual construction given years of delays already experienced. An activist said the Laxmi Chowk flyover is urgently needed but the commencement date remains uncertain. The development comes after Chief Minister announced a Rs 426 crore infrastructure package for the IT park and PMRDA drew up a last-mile Metro connectivity plan for Hinjawadi. For thousands of IT employees, residents and businesses losing productive hours daily at congested junctions, the PWD proposal is encouraging but only actual construction will prove meaningful.

Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited Mahatransco has planned a Rs 740 crore power transmission project in the Saswad-Kodit area to meet electricity demand from the proposed Purandar airport and its associated development including an IT park and new industrial establishments, with a January 2028 completion target.
The project envisages a 400/220 kV substation at Saswad with a total transformation capacity of 1,000 MVA comprising two interconnecting transformers each of 500 MVA, a 125 MVAr bus reactor and provisions for future capacity expansion. Mahatransco confirmed the project has been specifically planned keeping in mind Purandar region’s future electricity requirements given the proposed airport and expected industrial and urban growth.
The substation will support not just airport operations but residential areas, commercial establishments, educational institutions, hospitals and industries across the entire Purandar development belt. By targeting January 2028 completion Mahatransco ensures power infrastructure is ready well before the airport generates peak electricity demand.
The project will be implemented through tariff-based competitive bidding with Saswad Transmission Limited, a special-purpose company established for the project, transferred to Mahatransco for execution.
For a region that saw land acquisition accelerate after the Bombay High Court dismissed farmers’ petitions against the airport in September, the Rs 740 crore power commitment signals Maharashtra is building the entire Purandar ecosystem simultaneously rather than waiting for the airport alone to be completed first.

Magarpatta–Hadapsar Bridge Evolution 2015–2026 | PMC Infrastructure Update | SaudaGhar
How has the bridge infrastructure connecting Magarpatta City and Hadapsar Industrial Estate evolved over the years? In this SaudaGhar ground report, we look at the development of this important connectivity link in eastern Pune.
According to PMC's 2020–21 Road Department Budget, the project involved constructing two bridges over canals on a 24-metre Development Plan (DP) road connecting Hadapsar Industrial Estate, near Tata Hannibal Company, to Magarpatta City. The budget records ₹200 lakh (₹2 crore) and indicates that work was in progress. Contract-related entries are dated 6 December 2018 and 27 February 2019.
A separate 2024 PMC tender lists an estimated value of ₹5.55 crore for project management consultancy and supervision. This is not confirmed as the bridge construction cost.
The exact bridge lengths, individual widths, final construction cost and completion date in 2026 could not be independently verified from the available records. The 24-metre measurement refers to the DP road width, not necessarily the bridge width.

A World Bank Group delegation comprising representatives from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development IBRD and the International Finance Corporation IFC led by Mara Warwick regional practice director for water met PMC officials on Friday to discuss financing and technical assistance for two major proposals under the Urban Challenge Fund, an Rs 890 crore water supply project covering 12 newly merged villages and an Rs 400 crore flood mitigation plan targeting 304 identified locations. The water supply project is expected to initially benefit around four lakh residents rising to 7.78 lakh by 2052 with price discovery completed through the banking process at a competitive interest rate of 7.3 percent. The flood mitigation plan includes nullah development, culvert construction and stormwater drainage improvements while sewerage proposals for merged villages covering seven sewage treatment plants and approximately 357 km of sewer network were also discussed. The delegation appreciated PMC’s integrated approach to infrastructure planning with Warwick emphasising the importance of city-level leadership, institutional capacity and sustainable financing in urban development.
Discussions also covered reducing non-revenue water, improving distribution efficiency, promoting treated wastewater reuse and exploring a dedicated water and wastewater utility model for Pune. The PMC commissioner highlighted the infrastructure challenges arising from the city’s expanding municipal limits and stressed the need for reliable civic services, effective drainage and timely project implementation. He also requested exposure visits for civic officers to study international best practices in water supply and urban service delivery. The World Bank Group indicated it could support PMC through a suitable combination of financing and technical assistance. For the estimated four lakh residents of Pune’s 12 merged villages currently lacking reliable water supply, adequate flood protection and functional sewage infrastructure.

Nearly 18 months after trees along the main Koregaon Park Annexe road between ABC Farms and Carnival Hotel had their canopies cut and root balls prepared for transplantation as part of a road-widening project, PMC and citizens are telling starkly conflicting accounts of how many trees were actually relocated and how many survived. PMC officials claimed they transplanted 109 trees against the 85 earmarked for transplantation in the permission covering 193 trees, of which 108 were approved for felling and 85 for transplantation, but admitted that at least 45 of the 109 transplanted trees have since died including two old rubber trees. Citizens however directly challenged the civic body’s account alleging that many trees were never moved from their original sites despite being root-balled and that trees outside Kopa Mall and near Supreme Towers and Poonawalla Fincorp were left to die in place. Photographs taken by citizens on October 5 showed trees with canopies and major branches still cut back along the same road while residents said the roots of two old rubber trees near the Hanuman temple were never even dug up.
Citizens disputed PMC’s claim that the rubber trees were 20 to 22 years old saying they were over 50 years old, a distinction that matters significantly given the ecological value of mature versus young trees. PMC officials defended the outcomes saying transplantation does not have a 100 percent success rate even with scientific methods, that trees were watered regularly and that some failed due to technical differences in root systems. Citizens countered by demanding that PMC identify the precise destinations of all 109 trees it counts as transplanted and establish clearly how many have actually survived with photographic and physical evidence rather than administrative claims. The controversy has raised serious questions about how tree transplantation commitments made in future road widening permissions will be monitored and verified given that the civic body’s own account and ground reality appear to diverge so significantly on the fate of trees that once lined one of Pune’s most prominent green corridors.

PMC-PCMC Border की सड़कों का हाल 😳 | Potholes, Traffic & Pollution | SaudaGhar
Welcome to the PMC-PCMC border, where everyday travel feels like navigating a battlefield.
In this ground report, SaudaGhar highlights the condition of roads along the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) border. Large potholes, damaged road surfaces, stagnant rainwater, narrow roads, increasing traffic and smoke from burning waste have made daily commuting a challenge for local residents.
For two-wheeler riders, navigating these potholes can be particularly risky. With traffic increasing and road conditions remaining a concern, an important question arises: when will the necessary road improvements catch up with the needs of the growing population?
Residents need safer roads, cleaner air, relief from potholes and infrastructure that can handle growing traffic. These are not luxury demands. They are basic civic necessities.
Through this satirical battlefield-style ground report, SaudaGhar brings attention to the everyday challenges faced by commuters and residents. The real question is not who wins the battle, but when citizens will finally get the infrastructure they need.

Pune Real Estate Market | 140 Projects Registered, 210 Extensions | 32,981 Flats Across Maharashtra
Pune Real Estate Market 2026 | Latest MahaRERA Update
Is Pune’s real estate market slowing down, or is there still significant activity in the housing sector? The latest MahaRERA data released around Dussehra offers some important insights into Maharashtra’s property market.
According to the report, 435 new housing projects were registered across Maharashtra, covering approximately 32,981 flats, with an estimated investment of ₹23,719 crore. Pune recorded 140 new project registrations, while the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) accounted for 201 projects.
However, new registrations are only one part of the picture. The report also highlights 210 project extension approvals and 609 correction approvals. These figures matter because project registrations, deadline extensions and corrections reflect different stages of real estate development and regulatory activity.
For the wider market, MahaRERA data for April to September 2026 shows approvals relating to 6,486 projects, including new registrations, extensions and corrections. With October figures included, the reported total reached 7,740 approved applications.
So, what does this mean for Pune’s real estate market?
While new project registrations indicate continued development activity, they do not automatically confirm strong property sales, actual buyer demand or a market boom. Similarly, project extensions do not necessarily mean that every project is facing the same difficulties.
For homebuyers and investors, the important questions remain the same. How many flats are actually being sold? What is the unsold inventory? Are prices supported by genuine demand? And are developers delivering projects within their promised timelines?
At SaudaGhar, we look beyond headlines and numbers to understand what the data means on the ground. Before making a property decision, buyers should evaluate project details, MahaRERA records, construction progress, location infrastructure and their own financial readiness.

Pune Municipal Corporation PMC is planning infrastructure projects worth around Rs 2,000 crore for newly merged villages and other parts of the city and is exploring loans under the Centre’s Urban Challenge Fund to finance the works with a leading bank offering borrowing at 7.3 percent interest rate that PMC plans to negotiate further downward. The proposals include a Rs 890 crore water supply project for 12 merged villages expected to initially benefit around four lakh residents rising to 7.78 lakh by 2052, flood control works worth around Rs 400 crore at 304 identified locations in the older civic limits and sewage management infrastructure including seven sewage treatment plants and around 357 km of sewage pipelines in the merged areas. A senior delegation from the World Bank Group and International Finance Corporation IFC led by Mara Warwick regional practice director for water visited PMC on Friday to discuss potential financial assistance, technical cooperation and institutional capacity-building with the civic administration presenting its proposals and receiving a positive response from the delegation.
The projects are expected to receive financial assistance from the Centre and the state government with PMC required to borrow funds to meet remaining expenditure making the interest rate negotiations and Urban Challenge Fund exploration critical to keeping project costs manageable for the civic body. Municipal commissioner confirmed that the World Bank IFC delegation responded positively to the presentations and that the civic administration is actively exploring financing options to accelerate infrastructure development in merged areas while minimising borrowing costs. For the estimated four lakh residents of Pune’s 12 merged villages who currently lack reliable water supply, adequate flood protection and functional sewage infrastructure despite being within PMC limits since 2021, the combination of World Bank interest, Centre funding and Urban Challenge Fund loans represents the most credible financing pathway these long-pending projects have ever had and a potential turning point for communities that have been waiting for basic civic amenities since their merger into the city.

North Main Road in Pune has been facing traffic congestion and road widening challenges for a long time. Now, there is a significant update.
On 19 October, PMC reportedly received possession of the Defence land required for the road widening project. The civic body's target is to widen the road to 30 metres before the next monsoon.
However, the project still faces another major hurdle: private land acquisition. The acquisition of around one acre of private land is reportedly estimated to cost ₹22–23 crore.
Some landowners have also raised concerns about pending compensation for road widening carried out between 2003 and 2005.
So, does getting possession of the Defence land mean the entire road widening project is now on track? Not necessarily.
In this SaudaGhar ground update, we look at the progress, the remaining hurdles and what needs to happen before North Main Road can be widened across the entire stretch.
Will PMC complete the road widening before the next monsoon? Share your views in the comments.

🚇 Pune Metro Line 3 Update | 17 Stations Cleared, But When Will Services Begin?
Pune Metro Line 3, connecting Maan and Hinjawadi IT Park to Shivajinagar, is facing another delay in its anticipated opening. The 23.2 km elevated corridor has 23 stations, but passengers are still waiting for services to begin.
As of October 2026, 17 out of 23 stations have reportedly received CMRS safety clearance, while the remaining six are yet to receive clearance. The first 12 stations received provisional clearance in July, followed by five more in September.
The corridor uses a 750V DC third-rail power supply system, unlike conventional metro lines that use overhead electric wires. Trial runs and safety checks have been carried out, but safety clearance alone does not mean passenger services can begin immediately.
With the inauguration reportedly postponed from 3 November to 16 November, an important question remains: could services begin at stations that are ready, or will commuters have to wait until all six remaining stations receive clearance?
At SaudaGhar, we bring you Pune infrastructure updates and the questions that matter to everyday commuters.
What do you think? Should Pune Metro Line 3 begin operations in phases wherever permitted, or should commuters wait for all stations to be ready? Share your views in the comments.
