A landmark event in the history of the Oasis and lit up @SwindonCouncil shame over their treatment of public facilities.
The community came together and celebrated this icon and made their feelings clear about the importance of the complete site being retained and reopened.

Two things Swindon doesn't have:
1. A fully functioning leisure centre with a wet and dry side
2. A multi-purpose venue to host events and shows.
What Swindon does have:
-Empty house, empty shops, empty warehouses.
"Build it and they will come"

@SwindonCouncil @gsum66 should make any future planning consent for housing on the area conditional on the inclusion of a rebuilt dry side with like for like capacity at the Oasis.
It is within the power of the council to ensure facilities are retained.

Shld incl Oasis masterplan in Thames Valley initial Strategic Infrastructure Plan coming in late 2027. Also leverage freshly approved £9.1 million Good Growth dev fund to independently audit Seven's financial viability models & prep a ready-to-go business case for a new Mayor.

Good news. @SaveOasis - this could also open up potential opportunities to help #Swindon Oasis with a wider regional view of infrastructure & leisure linked to housing?

⤵️Have you submitted your SBC Local Plan Regulation 19 submission yet for the #Swindon Oasis Leisure Centre site? Deadline 12th November. Details on our facebook page.
It is important the Local Plan is modified to protect the Oasis heritage and the facilities we need there.

Rightly so! The plan is a betrayal of the clear message the public have sent to the council and further proof that they show no regard for the protection of heritage buildings or leisure facilities which is why the public have to fight them every step of the way.
Shame on sbc!

I've never expected any warehouses to be built. Fully expect SevenCapital to put as many flats as they can on The Oasis site then declare that nobody is interested in the warehouses and apply for more flats there.

Get a cracking speedway track and parking on Claire's.
Full Leisure Centre, Entertainment Venue and hospitality on the main Oasis site accessible via planned north station entrance.
Many of @SwindonCouncil's problem children sorted in one place and a leisure hub to be proud of!

This is unbelievable. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has offered his solution to rising petrol and gas prices by giving advice to use Google maps to find the cheapest petrol stations. Cutting fuel duty might be a bit more helpful to millions of cash strapped motorists.

Think this would be a great result if @SwindonCouncil can pull something off. Oasis should be a central entertainment hub with a new Hall added

This was paid for with taxpayers money and belongs to us. This is what we stand to lose and your "leaders" care only about their positions. Make yourselves heard. We won't allow a poorly run developer with a terrible reputation conspire with an equally poor council to destroy it.

@SevenCapital @gsum66 are on notice that ignoring residents and future customers, trampling over government regulation and due process will not be tolerated.
That people have to fight to retain basic facilities is a scandal and a stain on you all.

Weldone guys, sorry i was unable to join due to illness.
I hope it has been productive and we can effectively move on to the next stage of the campaign to protect the public from the destruction of our facilities by @SevenCapital @SwindonCouncil
Save Oasis Swindon 🏊♂️ - Pool, Slides & Hall retweeted
Swindon wants the Oasis Leisure Centre back in full with all of its facilities rebuilt. We don't want to be gaslighted anymore so houses come first. The Oasis comes first. We need a rebuilt pool and hall. Swindon is rapidly expanding 🏠🏠, we don't want a reduced Oasis!
