The Great Indian Bureaucracy in which mostly top officers are corrupt & show zero transparency while occupying their office.
The amount of wealth created at top bureaucratic offices in India is insane when the per capita income of the country isn't even $3000.
If a politician has to go to the public every 5 years, something should also be done for the bureaucracy to test his/her character because the money involved & the stakes are too high to give a free run for entire life with passing the UPSC exam.
A review of the work of bureaucrats should be conducted every 5 years but who will supervise because the Judiciary is even in a further bad position when it comes down to debating corruption in India.

A clock company was given a 140 year old bridge to repair. Four days after it reopened, the bridge fell into the river with 500 people on it. 135 died, more than 50 of them children. The man accused was later weighed in sweets at a ceremony in the same town.
His name is Jaysukh Patel, managing director of the Oreva group, the company behind Ajanta clocks.
In March 2022 the Morbi municipality gave Oreva a 15 year contract to repair and run the bridge.
On 26 October 2022 the bridge reopened. The town's chief officer later said the company opened it without telling them.
On 30 October 2022, around 6.40 pm, it was Sunday evening and the bridge was packed with families. It collapsed.
The youngest to die was 18 months old.
A forensic report said the cables were rusted, the anchors broken and the bolts loose.
Ten people were arrested, including Jaysukh Patel. He was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
In December 2023 the Gujarat High Court rejected his bail. In March 2024 the Supreme Court granted it, with a condition that he stay out of Morbi.
In November 2024 a court relaxed that condition. Days later a community group in Morbi honoured him at a temple event and weighed him in sweets.
Narendra Parmar, whose 10 year old daughter died on the bridge, said, "It is a matter of sadness for us to see the main accused being honoured like that."
Four years later, the trial is still going on.

âI told you soâ is not something to mention cheerfully, especially when what was said is negative.
From the time long term capital gains tax was brought back, I have been tirelessly pointing out how unfair it is to have both STT and long term capital gains tax.
Even when I was a BJP supporter, I criticised how disastrous the 2019 budget was. From that time, I have been consistent in saying that Nirmala Sitharaman is unfit to be a finance minister.
She reduced corporate tax but kept the individual tax rate as it is. In fact, the individual tax rate went as high as 42 percent and is now around 39 percent.
Income tax is paid by a tiny fraction of the population. Still, the amount they pay is more than what all corporates in India put together pay.
Individuals paying cumulatively more than corporates started only during the period of the current Finance Minister. This is a travesty of justice.
This government has no clue about capital markets or risk capital. Prime Ministerâs most trusted officer Hasmukh Adhia said making profits from markets requires no effort. Then why do very few create wealth and most get wiped out from capital markets?
Neither Hasmukh Adhia nor Nirmala Sitharaman would have ever invested even a single rupee in capital markets.
All asset classes are not equal because the nature of risk is different. In a capital starved country, risk capital needs to be incentivised.
For those who say it is only the secondary market, without ease of entry and exit in secondary markets, the primary market would cease to exist. And without that, there would be zero risk capital.
The odds of success in trading are already very low. The government has kept increasing STT, making trading unviable.
The government simply does not understand that trading provides two important things for markets: liquidity and price discovery. Without liquidity and price discovery, secondary markets would become practically useless.
Even in 2024, after NDA won the elections, I tagged the Prime Minister multiple times stating that anyone other than Nirmala Sitharaman should be considered for Finance Minister because she would prove to be economically disastrous for the country. And unfortunately, I am proven right.
The Finance Ministry is only good at setting narratives like poverty has been rooted out in India, we would become a developed superpower by 2047, and the latest narrative of how economically powerful we are becoming on a PPP basis.
I have repeatedly shown with data and facts how every single narrative is false and disconnected from reality. The Finance Ministry lives in a completely different reality.
Even developed nations understand how important foreign capital is. But our finance minister said in Parliament it is ok if foreign capital goes away because we have domestic retail investors. Certain statements are coming back to haunt us.
As I have said in the past, it is not that this government did not do anything positive. But given the huge mandate, the last twelve years are wasted opportunities on an overall basis. And the contribution of the Finance Ministry to these wasted opportunities is significant.
For many years, I have been trolled, criticised, and abused for questioning the finance minister and the governmentâs economic policies.
Now every well meaning individual realises how disastrous the Finance Minister has been for both the economy and capital markets.
My views stand vindicated now. Still, you do not feel happy when your negative views come true.

Take away Saraswati,
Take away the fair daughter who stands beside Mother Durga,
When books are treated as garbage,
worshipping her means nothing.
Load the goddess of learningâs clay form onto a truck today,
Let the right side stay empty,
Why keep a place for her at all?
Shape even the single-frame idol that way.
For the sake of books,
this state no longer needs even a touch of the Word.
From the five in that pandal, take Saraswati away.
.
.
From this morgue of her children, take Mother Durga away today.
Let Mahishasura stay alone.
His home isnât so far off anyway.
If needed, build him some idol with a thousand arms,
write âAll izz wellâ on placards and put them in those hands.
Let the demon stay.
Take the gods and goddesses away from the worship.
///
These are the opening & closing lines of a searing poem written by Arya Tirtha... after the recent unfortunate events that have transpired during Durga Pujo in Kolkata. The poem asks - are we even worshipping Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesh & Kartik. Should Maa Durga's idol be removed and only Mahishasura be worshipped?
.
No amount of AI translation can match the pain and anguish the original Bengali lines convey.... there is something deep in the Bengali consciousness that has been assaulted by the BJP this time around.
For decades - though Congress / Left / TMC regimes - Maa Saraswati never faced the bulldozer and though all the decades of Durga Pujo chaos in Kolkata - no one had to die in a mindless stampede or were excavators sent to destroy book stalls.
Is this just a reflection of who we have become?
//
//
Here is the original poem in Bangla - it would be amazing if this could be translated to all languages - keeping the context and rage intact.
