Food regulators in Hong Kong at the Center for Food Safety has identified a pesticide called ethylene oxide in multiple food products and spices manufactured in India, by Indian companies Everest (Mumbai) and MDH (New Delhi).
Everest and MDH are the largest spices traders in India with maximum spices based food products stocked on shelves in Indian market.
Ethylene oxide has been found to be associated with cancers such as lymphoma in males and breast cancer in females.
What is Indian food regulator doing? If this is the morbid scene with international exports, what are we exposed to here?
India has no value for public health and seems like Government and most people are content with distractive politics and religion.
We need to start an era of Citizen Science in India, to make those responsible, also accountable.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission has suddenly woken up to the fact that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) like mefenamic acid (mostly prescribed in short term for painful period cramps) causes a side effect called as DRESS syndrome (Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms), a condition first described in 1936 (!!!) from treatment due to anti-serizure drugs
I am not sure which joker thought this has to be a news piece because the whole country is now panicking on this absolutely nonsense alert on one of the safest drug out there on a side effect that is literally not reported in published literature from India.
DRESS syndrome is a well known BUT extremely extremely rare (yes I used two extremely's) adverse event associated with painkillers such as mefenamic acid
The most common drugs that lead to DRESS syndrome are anti-seizure medications (almost 50% cases reported world-wide) such as carbamazepine, phenytoin and phenobarbitone, antibiotic such as minocycline and the drug given for gout, called allopurinol. Carbamazepine anti-seizure drug has been reported to be implicated in most DRESS cases world over - 27% of all reported cases!
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articleā¦
NSAID causing DRESS syndrome reported world-wide makes hardly 3-5% of cases (WORLDWIDE!)
- of this, indomethacin (a painkiller that is seldom used nowadays) is most commonly implicated, not mefenamic acid.
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articleā¦
Fact:
Published reports of mefenamic acid causing DRESS syndrome from Asia - ZERO.
Published reports of NSAID group of drugs overall causing DRESS syndrome in India - ZERO.
Published reports of the NSAID drug mefenamic acid drug causing DRESS syndrome in India - ZERO.
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?ter⦠& pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?terā¦
More facts:
Published reports of Ayurvedic drugs with heavy metal contamination - LITERALLY >100s OF CASES Published reports of Ayurvedic drugs with Lead contamination - LITERALLY >50 OF CASES
Published reports of Ayurvedic Giloy herb causing liver injury and liver failure in India >250 CASES.
Published reports of Ayurvedic Ashwagandha causing liver injury and liver failure in India ~ 10 CASES.
Where is the safety alert on these?
I have no idea what the drug regulation system in India has become. It has become the joke of the century. Looks like a one-trick pony favoring traditional medicine over scientific medicine. Shame!

Dear friends, I am sorry that this is not an educational and medical science post which I usually do. This is a bit long, and personal, so please bear with me, stay with me.
There are some matters that require me speaking out without fear or prejudice.
Last night until today early morning hours, I was subjected to a terrible and vulgar online abuse, harassment, vulgarity and character assasination initiated by a Hindutva handle operated by a man, Mr. Vijay Patel.
It started with me being open and vocal about Ayurveda group Patanjali and its head charlatan Baba Ramdev.
xitter.gq/theliverdr/status/1727ā¦
Vijay Patel who operates the handle @vijaygajera responded to the above tweet not scientifically or rationally, but using communalism and hurling religious slurs.
xitter.gq/vijaygajera/status/172ā¦
I have always posted on matters of medical science and medical education simplified for the people. It is my passion. So any ounce of religiosity or communalism is something I detest and I block such wasteful handles. And I blocked Mr. Vijay Patel.
xitter.gq/theliverdr/status/1727ā¦
This probably triggered him because trolls like him, need content from me to misinterpret and survive on social media. I basically cut out his oxygen supply. And he went ultra communal on the next post, hinting at conspiracies targeted at my work place, my family, and especially my father, who is a senior Gastroenterologist and Padma Awardee.
xitter.gq/vijaygajera/statā¦
Vijay Patel is a known Hindutva disinformation peddler who takes donations from other Hindu nationalist supporters to damage characters and professions of those who try to do good by the people - especially those who impart critical thinking to the masses. And I was the perfect target for him.
newslaundry.com/2022/07/09/aā¦
His communal posts against me awakened the massive right wing Hindu nationalist social media abusive-machinery who came in by the droves to abuse, harass and post vulgar comments under every post of mine - destroying the quality of content and value of medical science teaching - I had to lock comments on some of my new posts because of this. I received death threats - multiple of them throughout the night and I got exhausted blocking the vile handles, all alone. My children and me usually see bread baking and sleep off at night, but last night, they slept alone without me in our routine plan. It was sad.
But it did not end there. Vijay Patel and his saffrom brigade started a character assasination against my father, claiming that he was sued, arrested and reprimanded by a Court of Law for illegally harvesting organs from a young man in 2009. But they left out a lot from that story, which I would like to clarify here.
An ethically performed deceased organ donation from a young man with his family's consent happeneddecades ago, when my father was director of a multispecialty hospital in Kochi. Many years later, a senile, propagandist, and a jobless medical practitioner, Dr. Ganapathy started the conspiracy theory that the organ donation was an illegal harvest. His allegations were turned down by three major regulatory bodies including the national transplant tribunal due to lack of evidence and cooked up stories and also by law enforcement after detailed enquiry. However, a few years back, he came back with the same allegation, almost 14 years after the "alleged" event and through an ex-parte order from a lower Court, summoned the doctors, including my father for investigation. This was widely misreported using exaggerated claims, by the Hindutva loudspeaker, OpIndia which Hindu nationalists kept citing under my posts - with a political angle - Congress vs BJP - without actual evidence to show for those claims.
opindia.com/2023/06/kerala-uā¦
But what everyone missed from posting under my posts was that The High Court of Kerala, ordered the lower court to stay the summons on this "old propaganda in new bottle" from Dr. Ganapathy and a writ petition to quash the fake allegation in on the way.
livelaw.in/high-court/keralaā¦
And the Director of Medical Education served a notice for legal action on Dr. Ganapathy over his propaganda against organ donation in Kerala.
onmanorama.com/content/mm/enā¦
The same propagandist Dr. Ganapthy was responsible for putting up similar case against another high volume liver transplant center in Kochi, which was quashed by the High Court of Kerala.
livelaw.in/high-court/keralaā¦
The same propagandist Dr. Ganapathy was also served show cause notice for "communalising" organ donation. Dr Ganapathy, the Kollam-based [jobless] surgeon, who alleged that no Muslim suffered brain death because hospitals were largely Muslim-owned and found himself in hot waters.
thenewsminute.com/kerala/comā¦
The propaganda case against my father and other doctors are completely baseless, as it was decades before and will be quashed in due time.
But it is important for young people like Vijay Patel and his indoctrinated and religion-driven communal friends to realize that everytime they demonize transplant programs, transplant medicine and doctors, the patients suffer. Organ donation has witnessed a steep fall in Kerala in recent years following the propaganda against it. In 2015, organs of 76 deceased persons were donated and patients received 218 organs. In 2022, organs were donated from a mere 14 persons. The number of organs received by patients was 50. Until now in 2023, only 11 organs have been donated.
I am witness to this. I have lost more young men than ever before on the transplant wait list. And what Dr. Ganapathy and communally-driven vulgar trolls like Vijay Patel do not understand is that with the death of deceased organ donation, the real unethical market for living donors rise. These idiots are the people are creating real "organ rackets" with their brainless propaganda.
Now the ending of this post. I live for my patients and will continue to fight for them. I live to educate people on scientific health-seeking behaviour. I do not rest. I cannot take breaks. I do it at great personal cost. I do not believe in God. I only believe that there are good people, bad people and evil people. And evil people like Vijay Patel must be shown their place.
Which is why, today, I registered a serious complaint with the Kochi City Police, the Kerala State Cyber Cell and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kerala, against Vijay Patel, operating from @vijaygajera under the non-bailable section of IPC 153A as well as sections on criminal intimidation, intentional insult and provoking violence.
I have faith in the Kerala Police Department and the Kochi City Police and State Cyber Cell that they will hunt this man down and bring him what he deserves. And everyone who has been part of this character assasination campaign, watch your backs.
Expect us.
And to all others who supported me in their own way, with words and kindness, thank you. Let us move on to what we always do. Learn, teach and care.
Just one tweet and this Fraud and part of Conversion Mafia @theliverdoc ran away!
But I promise I will expose him and his anti-Hindu organization completely.

ā”ļøShould you believe YouTubers and Instagramers who promote turmeric as a medicinal supplement?
[1] Understand the concept of bioavailability ā or āthe ability of a drug or substance to be absorbed and used by the body.ā The bioavailability of turmeric is less than 1% - that is, when turmeric is directly consumed, 99% of it is excreted out of the body in stools. There are negligible amounts of it for any sort of action in the body.

[2] Understand the concept of drug/substance half-life or āthe time it takes for the amount of the active substance in your body to reduce by half.ā The half-life of turmeric is few hours, meaning the negligible amount that is absorbed is quickly removed from the body. This is conclusive evidence that any little quantity of turmeric that people put into their hot water, milk, or lattes does not produce significant biological effects on the body.
nottingham.ac.uk/nmp/sonet/rā¦
[3] Turmeric contains up to 5% of curcumin in it ā that is, it has only 5% of the bioactive component in it, and only 1% of the 5% is available for action in the body when turmeric is taken by mouth. This is extremely small for turmeric to have any biological activity inside humans.

[4] For turmeric to affect the human body, large amounts, weighing as much as a human infant, must be consumed daily and frequently ā a practically impossible task.
[5] The bioactive compound in turmeric, called curcumin is a PAIN ā or pan-assay interference compound. PAIN compounds show different types of activity in assay experiments which the researcher wrongly attributes to the real activity of the compound tested. These bioactivities are not due to interactions with cells or tissues but are deceptive actions on the experimentās other chemical components. This is one reason why, the world over, no major groups studying turmeric or curcumin have not consistently replicated each other clinical experiments.

A good lead compound has good potency (strength to cause an effect) at low concentrations, confirmed, selective and traceable mechanism of action, chemical stability, good bioavailability, and stable and meaningfully flexible absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicology (called ADMET) qualities ā all of which are lacking in turmeric.
ā”ļøWhat happens when one makes turmeric/curcumin into highly absorbable forms?
[a] Curcumin-based concentrated formulations, black pepper combinations, lipid complexes, nano-emulsions, and liposomal mixtures have been studied to increase the bioactive compound's levels and improve turmeric's absorption and biological effects.
[b] The United States Drug-induced Liver Injury Network, or US-DILIN, recently reported multiple cases of turmeric-associated liver injury in which five patients required hospitalization and one died of liver failure. Liver injury associated with turmeric is now a growing problem.
