this is our plan to solve aging. and it starts at the biopunk house, a state-of-the-art biotech community and lab at @frontiertower. discovery isn’t reserved for billion dollar labs, we’d put our money on it being right here. with cracked researchers like @ThatMrE and biotech founders with billion-dollar companies mentoring you through your journey, this is your step to getting from concept to clinic and prototype to pilot. 🔗application link below

MIT's free virtual synthetic biology course applications are open for this year! It has great stuff.
I’m excited to announce that the application for the 2026 edition of our @medialab and global synthetic biology course “How to Grow (Almost) Anything” is now open! Application link in thread 👇

I was living the dream today speaking with the NASA workforce and taking questions. Not surprising, the world’s most accomplished space agency has assembled extraordinary talent. I am fortunate to be serving alongside them.

This is possibly one of the most awesome pictures taken on the Moon. Jack Schmitt, (the only scientist who practiced geology on another world), with the US flag and the Earth (plus Gene Cernan reflected in his visor), 53 years ago Today.

IMO Robotaxi might arrive before then, but multiple options is great.

Weak magnetic field effects have been reported across biology for decades, but the mechanisms are still debated. One possibility is that certain cellular reactions respond to magnetic fields through quantum-level spin dynamics. Last year, researchers in our ecosystem tested this idea using tadpoles. When Earth’s ~50 μT field was removed and replaced with an ultralow field (<1 nT), the tadpoles developed faster across multiple morphological measures. The shift was visible as early as day one. This raises deeper questions about how development and physiology interact with magnetic environments, and what kinds of biophysics could explain such sensitivity. Quantum biology offers a path forward - a framework that can connect molecular spin dynamics to organism-level outcomes, and potentially reveal new ways to understand and influence living systems. The full dataset, images, paper, and analysis code are open here: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Mars could be green in our lifetime, but you’d still need an oxygen mask. With new capabilities in spaceflight & synthetic biology, current plans for Mars terraforming look very different from past visions. A thin, life-supporting atmosphere might be doable with modern tech.
