The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. The Guardian says Sierra Leone is a narco state. The numbers say otherwise.
- About 2 homicides per 100,000 people, against a global average of 6.1
- 8th most peaceful country in Africa (Global Peace Index 2026)
- The UN Office on Drugs and Crime puts the global average at 6.1 per 100,000, and Africa's at 13. Drug offences recorded by Salone police in 2025? 448 cases, mostly kush, tramadol and cannabis. Cocaine cases were low.
- The UK government's own investment arm is still putting money into Sierra Leone
Crime is rising, and we should say so. But a crime problem is not a narco state.

As of today (Monday 19 October), the Canary will be closed indefinitely.
After multiple attacks this year, from Lloyds debanking us to former employees spreading malicious lies on social media, the situation has become unsustainable, both financially and operationally.
After 11 years, we take this action with deep sadness and regret. The extent of the lies, defamation, and harassment by ex-staff - coupled with the constant attacks by the state and those who’d see us destroyed - has become too much.
However, it is not over. This week, we will publish what really happened at the Canary and push back against the vicious campaign against our team and us.
We may be down, but we’re not out yet.
