Should children learn high-level math? When I finished high school I didn't know you couldn't divide by 0. I slept through math because it was irrelevant. After a few years I fell in love with physics and got my PhD in computational neuroscience. I learned math because I cared.
Reading "Punished by Rewards" by @alfiekohn . Illuminating book about how rewards (grades and incentives) destroy creativity and interest. Grateful to my parents for not caring about my grades. I didn't turn out too bad. #grades #grading
