When selecting a lab, prioritize mentoring. A good mentor will invest in your success & will be committed to provide you with the space/resources/training/network for you to thrive. Find the lab that will make you feel part of it.
Was an absolute honor to have lunch with Dr. Harmit Malik and talk about our science! What an amazing talk!
What an incredible honor for our @UTSWNews community to welcome Professor and @HHMINEWS Investigator Dr. Harmit S. Malik. Dr. Malik's fascinating, insightful, and thought-provoking talk sparked immense interest among the participants while inspiring many questions. @UTSW_PROVIDES
I had such a great time at my first @AmerSocVirol conference! Made lots of new friends, learned about some really cool science, and got to share my research. Thanks #ASV2023 for the great opportunity!
As #ASV2023 comes to a close, I'd like to congratulate two students in the lab! Emily Rex on her Flash-Talk and poster as well as @ScienceyNina on her oral presentation in the Arboviruses section.

Congratulations to Dr. Erika Lutter for serving as the faculty lead on OSU's Beckman Scholar Program (BSP). OSU is one of 14 institutions across the US to be selected to participate in BSP. This program will allow OSU to fund undergraduate research at CAS.

New in JB: P aeruginosa is not E. coli--it loves its tricarboxylates! New work by Underhill and Cabeen identifies several putative transporters for citrate and cis-aconitate. doi.org/10.1128/jb.00284-22
@ASMicrobiology @JBacteriology
Wish I could have been there!! Miss you guys and so happy our story is still being told!
Thrilled that @UlijaszLab hosted my former research mentor, Matt Cabeen @CabeenLab, at Loyola to share our (me and @ScienceyNina's) story about bacterial warfare and its clinical utility. A great time that was topped off with warm Gluhwein at Christkindlmarket! @osumicrobiology
Always a good time when I see these people!! And a cowboy win is the cherry on top! Same time next year?
Had a wonderful time in Stillwater today with the OG and new @CabeenLab folks! Football, beer, and hot pot. A great day! @osumicrobiology

Excited to announce another review from the lab: "How Poxviruses trigger NF-κB signaling, and in turn, how they counter these host responses...".
Great work by Student Emily Rex and Manager Josh Reus, highlighting this complex host-pathogen relationship!

This past weekend the lab had an exciting outing to @StompComedy to watch an Improv show staring our very own Josh Reus! It takes a lot of guts to get on stage, and even more so to do it in-front of strangers. Awesome show Josh!!
