JUST IN: The Pentagon has published a remarkable image of China's secretive Shenlong spaceplane in orbit, captured by a Maxar satellite and featured in its newly released 2026 space threat assessment.
The reusable, uncrewed spacecraft launches aboard a rocket and returns to Earth on a runway, similar to the U.S. military's X-37B.
China has conducted four orbital missions since 2020, demonstrating the ability to deploy and maneuver near other objects in space.
The DIA warns that technologies used for satellite inspection and proximity operations could also support anti-satellite capabilities.
China has disclosed few details about the spacecraft's missions or capabilities.

An honor to watch Adam Cassady be sworn in @StateDept as Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy! Look forward to working with him to advance U.S. spectrum and technology goals as part of (as @UnderSecPD aptly put it) “a new chapter in America’s digital diplomacy.”

The data are in: Trump Admin is saving taxpayers billions while achieving universal connectivity. The Benefit of the Bargain reforms brought funding in line with today’s realities, stretched dollars further, and avoided harmful market distortions.
Benefit of the Bargain BEAD reforms, led by @ArielleRothNTIA, removed unnecessary regulation and excessive costs.
Critics predicted disaster, but the data say otherwise.
Most locations will see fiber and the agency is adjusting to new market realities.

NEW: The Pentagon has granted the Department of Homeland Security permission to test a heat ray weapon at the southern border.
The military-grade heat ray can shoot an invisible beam of electromagnetic waves at potential intruders.
The weapon can reach people more than half a mile away, according to the United States military.
According to the Pentagon, the heat ray weapon is non-lethal but causes a burning sensation on the skin that can last between 10 and 15 minutes.
The weapon sends an uncomfortable tingling effect on a potential intruder, generating "an instinctive and irresistible urge to run from the effect."
Officials say the feeling is similar to the blast of heat you receive when you open up a hot oven.

T-Mobile comes out against satellite D2D in the 2496-2690 MHz band. Argues downlink interference from satellites could cause a cell site to lose up to 96% of its uplink coverage area and reduce uplink speeds for affected customers by 88% to 99%.

We definitely need to explain this in detail. Veterans of the cellular industry look at the chess board of existing pieces and don’t see a solution.
They don’t understand that SpaceX is developing entirely new pieces that fundamentally alter the strategic landscape.

This illustrates the point I’ve been making about the limits of centralized approaches to SI safety in cyber.
OpenCode (and earlier Hugging Face) hit the same wall mid-attack: frontier models refused to analyze the very exploits needed for defense because the payloads tripped safety filters. The guardrails backfired.
Meanwhile, the attackers found a way around restrictions to access advanced capabilities. This is not surprising. Chinese models are only about 6–9 months behind the American frontier in cyber. Obviously the U.S. has no jurisdiction over them.
The only durable response is decentralized: make powerful models available so defenders can build and run their own cyber defenses. The only solution to SI-powered cyberattacks is SI-powered cyber defense.
