Those of us who preach about personal finance love to tell others how you should never touch your investments as they're for the long term.
I'm really happy that we now get to practice what we preach.
The combination of falling markets, rising living costs, and paying for a wedding is pretty tough.
But... thankfully I'm in a solid financial position and even if things may "slow down" for a short period, it's nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Reaching FIRE to retire as soon as possible is like disliking pineapple on pizza.
We agree with it because so many other people tell us to.
If you create a fulfilling job that treats you well and gives you work-life balance, you won't need to escape anywhere.
We humans are so bad at multi-tasking that we sometimes turn the volume down in order to see better...
Let's be honest - if I had a passive income stream paying me 10k a month I wouldn't tell you about it.
Early retirement is similar to becoming all-powerful in a video game; with no further challenges we start to look for other games to play. But the thing is, there will always be new video games. Life is a one time deal.

If you want to be successful in life stop looking for shortcuts, and start looking for your alarm clock.
Get to work on your own success.
It's not that you hate work.
It's just that you hate working on things you don't find meaningful or fulfilling.
This is why you must spend at least a little bit of time regularly on something you're passionate about. Not to escape your job, but to save your own sanity.
Imagine a really large pizza.
You don't eat the entire pizza as one pie. You don't even have to eat it in one sitting. You divide it into manageable slices and enjoy each one.
Use a large pizza to represent your largest, most "unachievable" goals in life.
The journey of a thousand miles doesn't just begin with any step, but with a step in the right direction.
You need goals to tell you where you're going. But you have to be flexible during the journey.

Looking closely at your financial spreadsheet is a double edged sword.
It can take you down a dark path of obsession and excess frugality.
But it can also show you that you're moving closer to FIRE, even when your net worth (funds) is down.
Wield your numbers carefully.
I wrote a simple story about investing but without mentioning money. I truly believe that once you are able to separate the concepts of money and investments, you are one step closer towards reaching financial freedom and true wealth.
