.@KemiBadenoch discovered Thomas Sowell by accident. At 24, a left-wing colleague mocked her for not knowing economics. She typed “basic economics” on Amazon and ordered the first book that appeared. She couldn’t put it down. It explained why the Nigeria she grew up in stayed poor. When The Vision of the Anointed arrived, she was surprised to see he was black. Unlike most prominent race commentators, Sowell only mentioned race when it was relevant. He treated it as a fact, not an identity.

I thought that was an excellent speech by @KemiBadenoch - especially liked her angry defence of what it means to be English, and vow to abolish inheritance tax. She sounded very confident, exuded bags of common sense, and came over as very sensible, and likeable.

🚨"It was a con trick, I adored my father" Sir Iain Duncan Smith says he didn't fill every speech he ever did with his late father despite how much he loved him and Burnham used it to garner sympathy for a radical left-wing agenda. @MPIainDS | @JuliaHB1

💣🚨Marli Salmon on what Gabriel said to him after the slip vs Ipswich: 🗣️For a second I thought I’d ruined it. I slipped, the ball was gone, and I could feel everyone looking. Then I saw Gabby coming. He didn’t shout. He just put his arm around my shoulder, pulled me in and said, ‘Look at me. You’re my brother out here. I make those mistakes too. We fix it together, yeah? Keep your head up. I’ve got you.’ 🗣️He stayed there until I nodded. That was the moment I stopped feeling like a kid trying to survive and started feeling like I actually belong in this team. #AFC

As a non Arsenal fan, Conor Coady seems pretty excited about Arsenal. Nice words about Dowman and Arteta ☺️ That's his Sky career over, then 😄

🚨🗣️ Paul Merson speaking on Arsenal’s chances of retaining the Premier League title: “I just can’t see anybody stopping Arsenal. They’ll win it quite comfortably. I don’t see a single weakness in them regarding the Premier League. They do have a few weaknesses in the Champions League but for the Premier League, they remind me of when Manchester City first started dominating the league: two players in every position. William Saliba and Gabriel are unbelievable but then Cristhian Mosquera comes in and you wouldn’t even think Saliba was missing. Jurrien Timber is out but Ben White comes in and keeps Jeremy Doku quiet. I was going: ‘Oh, I forgot about Viktor Gyokeres. I forgot about Eberechi Eze.’ And they were coming on with five or 10 minutes to go. Christos Tzolis is like Ronseal - does exactly what it says on the tin. He looks like a manager’s dream. I don’t think him and Gabriel Martinelli take you to the Champions League but Arsenal must have something in the pipeline. They’ve got to. I’d be shocked if they didn’t have a key signing before the start of the season or before the end of the window. And I mean a key signing. The Vinicius Junior deal was a lot closer to what people think. It wasn’t just talk - a lot had gone through. A lot had been done. That’s the market they’re looking at. I just don’t see anybody touching Arsenal at the moment. The only ones who can beat Arsenal are themselves.”
