No Bayern Munich player has won the Ballon d’Or for 45 years, but how important is the award to the club’s fans and how is it viewed in Germany?

Nobody should indulge Cole Palmer’s protests there. He got a let off with that first incident, wasted the reprieve and then gave the referee no choice but to send him off.

That’s ridiculously dangerous from Said El Mala. Shoves two Schalke players into each other, both subsequently replaced with bleeding head injuries.

Gianni Infantino has been on a world tour ever since the FFE scandal broke, staging photo ops with executives from dozens of different countries and federations - see his IG for how busy he’s been.

No, Thierry Henry did not lobby for more than a points deduction for Manchester City.
Kylian Mbappe did not comment on Vinicius Jr’s sending off.
Jamie Carragher did not rail against refereeing in Liverpool against City.
This is football’s fake quotes factory and the reasons behind a growing problem on social media.

What a performance from Gladbach. Tremendous, defiant effort in Stuttgart to get their first win of the season and avoid becoming the first Bundesliga side in history to go seven games without a point.
Alex Blessin is a superb coach.

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has been taken to hospital by ambulance, after collapsing at the club’s Sabener Strasse headquarters on Friday.
Kompany, 40, has been suffering from a viral infection over the past week and had been watching a session involving the club’s second team ahead of the senior team’s Bundesliga game against Freiburg on Sunday.
Bayern confirmed Kompany will now undergo “a thorough examination and remain under medical care”. His coaching staff will manage training and match operations until further notice, the club said.
