.@Bigbaby243 If you’re fully independent and carrying your own weight, great. Then 50/50 on shared expenses shouldn’t be an issue. The pushback usually comes when “independent” still expects the man to cover dates, trips, and lifestyle while also splitting bills. That’s not 50/50, that’s selective.
Most men don’t need a woman’s money. 50/50 usually means splitting rent, groceries, and bills not paying for her hair, skincare, and personal maintenance. Those are individual choices.
Let’s be clear: I’m not talking about women who wake up just to bill men that’s a completely different conversation. I’m talking about independent women who carry their own weight.
If you break down what it actually costs just to exist and stay put-together as a woman every month hair appointments, skincare, hygiene essentials, monthly health needs, plus funding our own businesses the financial pressure is already heavy. Women spend a lot just on basic maintenance.
So when men start preaching 50/50 and eyeing a woman’s money, it baffles me. A lot of men love the 50/50 mantra until it's time to actually look at the macro picture. As a man, why are you focused on a woman’s money?
