Alright story time… I actually have some personal history with this place. When I was 12 my mom was teaching at a conference in SF (pre social media days) and let me tag along for the trip. I hadn’t left the Midwest before that really so SF felt like another planet. Long story short we stayed at this Hyatt and from the second I walked inside I was hooked. The plants, the elevators overlooking the atrium, the sheer size of it all. I didn’t come from an artistic family or have any early introduction to design/architecture. Still don’t have any formal education tbh. But that day my brain chemistry changed seeing the Hyatt lobby. I’ll never forget it. It began a lifelong obsession of paying attention to great design. This account is that day coming full circle.
