A TRAGEDY HAS NO RACE, NO RELIGION AND NO SIDE
I wasn’t going to comment on the terrible ferry tragedy in Northern Cyprus, but seeing some reactions on social media has been deeply upsetting. My hotel room is not gar from where this tragedy took place....it's so sad.
A loss of life should never become an opportunity for hatred, racism or political point-scoring. Death does not belong to one community. Grief has no nationality. Human life carries no flag.
I have Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot heritage, among others, and perhaps that gives me a different perspective. But before anything else, we are all human beings.
The families who have lost loved ones do not need anger or division. They need compassion, respect and humanity.
We can disagree about history, politics and the future of this island, but surely we can agree on one thing:
A human life is a human life.
Rest in peace to all those who lost their lives. May their families find strength and comfort.
Choose compassion. Choose humanity.

@andyburnham needs to address the damage being caused by @HS2ltd & compensate while the incompetently managed and drastically delayed project devastates @iromg @richolden @bhatti_saqib @RachelTaylorMP @MattWestern_ @piersmorgan @allen_m_simpson @fsb_policy @Caterertweets
And wrecking people’s lives and businesses and treating them with contempt in the process ! As you ‘devastate you need to compensate’ ! This mad project is 15 years behind schedule ! Utter incompetence by @HS2ltd @Heidi_Labour and I believe not supportable legally ? @BBCNews

Sad to hear about the passing of Sven-Göran Eriksson. I met him several times as England manager and was always struck by his charisma and passion for the game. My thoughts are with his family and friends. A true gentleman of the game. W

This isn’t about left or Right, Democrat vs. Republican anymore. This is “People that want to watch America burn” vs. People that do not.
That’s the only issue on the ballot this November:
More riots, looting, lockdowns & statue purges—or Donald Trump.
That’s your choice.
