To decode the synthesis of interactive entertainment, we deconstruct the medium through a genre-agnostic, 10-point framework—assessing the very fabric of narrative soul, artistic intent, and mechanical execution.

I just paid $400 once for Final Cut Pro and used it for a DECADE
but Apple has been slooooowly dripping more and more features behind the subscription version in Apple "Creator Studio"
... and I think they're finally about to get me to pay ($129/yr) with this latest update. MotionVFX built-in

At 60 FPS, a GPU has 16.67 ms to render each frame. Frame drops and inconsistent pacing occur when the GPU fails to meet that that budget. An upscaler’s performance is therefore measured by how much processing time it adds to the rendering pipeline. Let that sink.

Took a bit to do the research and get some example data, but I'll have a pretty complete FSR4 video ready for tomorrow morning.
FSR4 Lite is pretty good.
Silver Pines feels so quintessentially me that it makes an already uncanny game feel even more uncanny. It masterfully blends Twin Peaks, Silent Hill, Alan Wake, and Resident Evil into a metroidvania, yet not once throughout it have I felt like I was playing something derivative.

Matthew Ball from Xbox has, IMO, put himself in a bad situation here and shouldn't have taken any early bait.
Now when rumors circulate, he's expected to appear like a Genie and debunk false Xbox claims. Now when he doesn't, that could be taken that the rumors are true.

Sony didn’t exit the TV business. The TV market, like many other consumer electronics sectors before it, has fallen under Chinese manufacturers’ dominance. Rather than abandon the market, Sony opted for a strategic partnership with TCL, the world’s largest TV manufacturers.

So here Jack Huyhn confirms that QSSR is, again, an FSR4.1-derived upscaler. We should expect this new release for RDNA2+ to be virtually the same thing. As usual, the Amethyst deal apparently means that Sony gets priority with the launch and marketing. 🧵
Όλο αυτό εν τω μεταξύ, χάρη στην συνεργασία με την SONY! Αν δεν ήταν το PSSR/QSSR δεν θα είχαμε αυτές τις εξελίξεις.
As a lifelong gamer, I think deeply about how to make gaming better and more accessible for everyone across consoles, desktops, laptops, handhelds, and the developers who build the games.
We power over a billion gaming devices around the world. It’s a responsibility we care deeply about.
Today, five drops.
1) FSR 4.1 is coming to Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards. Tuned and optimized from the 6900 series down to the 6400 class.
For the first time, FSR 4.1 is coming to APUs.
2) All Gorgon Halo and Strix Halo for your mini desktops and mobile workstations.
3) All Gorgon and Strix Ryzen 9 for your laptops.
4) All Z2E and Z2A for your handhelds and for gamers on the go.
5) FSR 4.1 is coming to @XBOX. Optimized for @ASUS_ROG Xbox handhelds and Xbox Series X | S.
We’re still building.
FSR Redstone is now in more than 400 games on Radeon 9000 series graphics cards.
FSR Frame Generation gets more consistent frame pacing, for smoother gameplay.
Ray Regeneration is coming to more games.
And soon, FSR is coming to Vulkan. Another way for developers to bring it into their games.
And don’t worry, we are working hard to bring FSR to more APUs in the future.
Enjoy!

People really need to understand that designing a console is a 5+ year process
Sony and MS never intended to release consoles for over $1K
There was just no way they possibly could have expected RAM/NAND prices to go up by 5x

I find this very hard to believe.
A "console" is a mass-audience device and you need great games and a low entry price (IMO $399 to $499). A console at the prices rumored below will never sell meaningful units to be of any value vs. alternatives. Zero.
I wouldn't release it at all.
Stick with PS5 Pro/Series X until prices normalize. The capabilities of those boxes are both fine for 99% of the audience. No one is screaming "I need a more powerful console" right now and I believe tons of optimization can and is happening on those platforms (see Xbox's AMD announcement on FSR 4.1 today - which is fantastic).
