Somewhere in Sri Lanka, a spectacular white spiral tower rises above an entire mountain range! 🇱🇰 This is Ambuluwawa Tower, near Gampola in Sri Lanka’s Central Province. And the view from the top is absolutely unreal! Standing approximately 48 metres tall, this extraordinary tower sits atop Ambuluwawa Mountain, around 3,567 feet above sea level. What makes this place fascinating? 🏔️ The location: A spectacular mountain summit surrounded by dense tropical forests, deep valleys and the breathtaking Central Highlands. 🌀 The architecture: A distinctive white spiral tower with an increasingly narrow external staircase. The higher you climb, the tighter and more exposed the staircase becomes! 🌍 360 degree views: On clear days, visitors can see the Knuckles Mountain Range, Adam’s Peak, Pidurutalagala and surrounding highlands. 🌿 Biodiversity: The surrounding biodiversity complex is home to approximately 200 plant species belonging to 80 families, including medicinal plants. 🕊️ Four religions, one summit: The complex brings together Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Islamic places of worship, symbolising religious harmony and coexistence. The biodiversity complex was developed between 1997 and 2006 and has become one of Sri Lanka's most distinctive tourist attractions. But here's the catch: the final stretch of the spiral staircase is extremely narrow and exposed. Not a place for anyone afraid of heights!
