Dr. Subhas Mukherjee created the world's second test-tube baby and India's first. Today, frozen embryo technology is one of the most widely used and successful techniques in modern reproductive medicine worldwide. He undoubtedly deserved a Nobel Prize in Medicine for his groundbreaking contribution. However, Jyoti Bose government formed a committee that dismissed and undermined his scientific achievements. As a result, he was denied recognition and was unable to publish his research in international scientific journals at the time. Because of the Left Front government's actions, Bengalis lost the opportunity to see one of its own scientists receive a Nobel Prize in Medicine.
