If religious institutions cannot produce serious students of knowledge, perhaps the problem is not simply that students lack discipline.
Perhaps the educational systems we have created reward attendance, consumption, and popularity more than understanding, application, and intellectual development.
This is where we can learn something valuable from the Prophetic example.
We should stop measuring the success of our institutions exclusively by how many people they attract.
We should ask what kinds of people they are forming.
Unpopular opinion:
Invoking the example of hijab-wearing women with Ivy League degrees to refute the notion that hijab is “backward” inadvertently reinforces the very colonial mindset it seeks to challenge.
It seems to concede that intellectual sophistication and progress are best measured by credentials from elite Western institutions.
But why should Western academic validation be the benchmark by which we establish the dignity, intelligence, or intellectual agency of Muslim women?
Addiction proves that you are capable of extraordinary devotion.
The tragedy is that you have surrendered yourself to something that destroys you, rather than the One who created you.
Understand your faith more deeply.

AI is an amazing tool, but please stop using it for pictures of yourself.
Most of you look like you’ve been awake for 9 days and have information the government wants.
Always remember that what seems impossible for you is easy for Allah.
“His command, when He wills something, is only to say to it: ‘Be,’ and it is.” (Qur’an 36:82)
I’ve reached the stage of life where, if you invite me to a social event, I need to know the parking situation.
If it involves meters, parking garages, or “you might have to circle the block a few times,” unfortunately our friendship in this world has run its course and we’ll see each other in the next life inshallah.
Stop obsessing over what people think of you.
Most people are too consumed with their own lives to think about you as much as you imagine.
What should concern you far more is how Allah sees you.
It’s great to have discipline with your diet, your workouts, and your health.
But if you don’t have the discipline to pray your salah on time and stay away from haram, then your discipline is missing where it matters most.

The passing of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Musa Shubayri Zanjani marks the loss of one of the great scholarly figures of our time. His life was devoted to knowledge, piety, humility, and the preservation of the intellectual heritage of the Ahl al-Bayt (a). May Allah elevate his station, reward his decades of service to Islam, and grant patience to his family, students, and the wider seminary community
