Such as? The £2 bus-fare cap? Labour replaced that with a £3 cap in January 2025. Burnham’s bringing £2 back in January 2027. Two years to return to the previous price, followed by a round of applause. Presumably the bus is travelling in circles. The electricity VAT cut? Six months of relief. Explain how that becomes a lasting answer to Britain’s energy costs. And these problems have been “ignored for far too long”, have they? Labour has been in government since July 2024. Changing the gentleman on the doorstep doesn’t wipe the previous two years from the record. You cannot keep restarting the stopwatch whenever you replace the runner. This post gives us no specific reform, no measured outcome and no figure for how much better off a household actually is. Just a photograph of Bumbling Burnham and another generous helping of his party’s own applause. Name the problem. Explain what changed. Show the result. “Vital breathing space” sounds splendid. Does it appear on the electricity bill, or must we print out this photograph and wave it at the meter? Yours, awaiting the figures behind the fanfare, A Gentleman from the Old School. 🎩

😂 Nick Ferrari bursts out laughing as Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds is forced to sell the latest government gimmick live on @LBC Reynolds looked thoroughly embarrassed as he tried to sell the plan to scrap import tariffs on a list of “everyday essentials”. When Ferrari asked him which products were included and what the actual savings would be, Reynolds immediately started dampening expectations, sheepishly admitting these were “not huge reductions” before reeling off the list: baked beans, chocolate, gherkins… That’s as far as he got. Ferrari could not contain himself and burst out laughing. 😭 Nick then pointed out that the Conservatives have called the projected saving of £21 per year “derisory”. You could see Reynolds was mortified reading it out. Imagine the brief he opened this morning and realised he had to go on air and sell this to the public. 😬 What a farce. Even on the government’s own figures, this works out at roughly 40p a week for the average household. Forty pence a week. You lucky people. Another pointless gimmick that will have zero material impact on people’s lives.

Where’s @DPJHodges reporting on this? Is he having another day focussed solely on Reform whilst ignoring all journalistic impartiality and equitability?

Missed by pretty much everybody, but @GOVUK was defeated 195-155 in the House of Lords last night on a very significant China amendment to the Cyber Security Bill. Amendment would require Government to keep a list of foreign threat actors, based upon those who attack the UK.

Some people have criticised @TheEconomist for using a log scale here, because it squashed the top end of assaults. So here's another way of presenting this, showing just how disproportionate the rates are. If we aren't serious about these national/cultural differences, we aren't committed to keeping Brits safe.
Ultimately the people that read this stuff need the editorial but the data doesn’t lie

A corrupt far left politician congratulating a fellow communist dictator. @andyburnham can we expect you to rig the next election in your favour just like Lula did in Brazil? I mean your party is all about trying to cancel elections altogether, gerrymandering the voting rules so only Labour can win and importing foreigners into the voter base, giving 16 year olds still in school the vote and locking up anyone who speaks out against your tyrannical regime. Hell, you weren’t even an MP at the beginning of the year and are only in power because of a coup d’état. You’re more of a criminal dictator than Lula is and he is a walking human rights violation.

This kind of “progressive” globalist politics is destroying the world Financially and socially. If @Poundland can’t even survive what hope have we got ? You choose Islam over Christianity, globalism over sovereignty and foreigners over British people.

Andy Burnham is a shameless fraud.
There is nothing socialist about a system of free movement that is used by multi-nationals to undermine wages. WATCH my Brexit speech today.

Andy Burnham must ditch the Conversion Practices Bill. It is bad law, rooted in ideology, likely to inflame the gender wars, undermine free speech, and create chaos for parents and professionals alike. Burnham should show political courage and bin it. jamesesses.co.uk/p/8-good-re…

Unbelievable. Britain is ALREADY holding talks with the EU about a return to free movement, The Times reports. Only 16 weeks after Burnham told Makerfield he wouldn’t “re-open” Brexit. There is absolutely no democratic mandate for this.
