Our comprehensive efforts to sustainably ensure our country's peace and security have reached a new milestone today. The state of readiness being built within Ethiopia's defense forces is endowing the nation with the capability to preemptively deter aggression.
In accordance with our prior agreement with the Russian government, we have today taken delivery of the first twelve Su-35 4++ Generation fighter jets. Additionally, Ethiopia will receive four S-400 air defense system batteries.
I would like to express my gratitude to my friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his dedication in ensuring we received these warplanes a year ahead of our agreed schedule. By equipping itself with these fighter jets, Ethiopia has taken the lead among Sub-Saharan African nations.
This historic achievement further strengthens our nation's sovereignty, and it will serve as a massive capability boost that allows us to confidently continue our journey toward ensuring our collective security and regional stability in the future.

Open the U.S. State Department’s TOP SECRET telegram of 9 August 1948, sent from London by Ambassador Lewis Douglas to the Secretary of State.
It records a French proposal during the Four-Power negotiations over the future of the former Italian colonies:
“Assab and Danakil coast should be ceded to Ethiopia”
The telegram goes further. It records discussion of whether this territory could be transferred immediately, even while disagreement continued over the remainder of Eritrea.
That matters.
This is not a twenty-first-century slogan created after Ethiopia became landlocked.
Assab itself was explicitly discussed in 1948 as territory that could be ceded to Ethiopia.
Whatever position one takes today, that historical record exists in black and white in the archives of the United States Department of State.

Hundreds gathered in Somaliland's capital, Hargeisa, waving American and Somaliland flags after President Trump described Somaliland as "a totally different country" from Somalia. I welcome his acknowledgment of Somaliland's distinct identity. Since restoring its independence in 1991, Somaliland has built democratic institutions, held competitive elections, and demonstrated its commitment to democracy through peaceful transfers of power, most recently in 2024. The United States should now take the next step and formally recognize Somaliland as an independent nation.

The defunct TPLF leadership has officially admitted to having decided to resort to classic terrorist tactics in order to remind the people of Tigray that there was once such a thing as TPLF. They are telling us that they will shoot down civilian planes en route to Mekelle, among other heinous crimes it craves to commit. Yet another good reason why the people of Tigray are better off without these lunatics.

News: #Red_Sea Afar group calls for #Eritrean President, government to face ‘justice’ at conference in #Ethiopia’s #Afar region
The Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization (#RSADO), an Ethiopia-based political and insurgent group opposing Eritrea’s ruling People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (#PFDJ), has called for President Isaias Afwerki and his government “to be held accountable” for alleged atrocities against the Red Sea Afar people, as it concluded a people’s conference in Logiya city, in Ethiopia’s Afar region held today.
RSADO’s latest conference follows a series of political and military activities by the group over the past year, and amid a sharp deterioration in relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
Recently, the organization has also pursued international avenues to raise concerns about the “treatment of the Red Sea Afar community.” Its leaders were recently featured in Israeli media amid reports that the group had sought support from #Israel.
