Nigerians vs The world

This is contradictory. You say he's not obligated to do anything for you, and that's true. But you're also claiming he has no right to react to another man buying you expensive things. That's you deciding his feelings for him. Free will cuts both ways. He chooses what to give you, and you choose what to accept. He also gets to choose how he feels about it and whether he's comfortable with it. “You can't question this” isn't independence, it's a rule that only works in your favor. Think about the reverse. If a woman's boyfriend let another woman buy him expensive gifts and said 'you have no right to question it,' most people would side with her for asking. Questioning isn't the same as controlling. Controlling is demanding you return the gift or cutting you off from people. Asking 'hey, why is he buying you this, and how do you see it?' is a normal part of a relationship. You're allowed to accept gifts. He's allowed to have a conversation about it. Both can be true. Relationships work on communication, not on shutting down every question and calling it freedom.
