Orthodox converts will read a thousand monastic books and not understand the most basic principles of mercy and humility, that when you judge someone unjustly their punishment falls as a curse upon you. This is why we always pray; “Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner” and affirm “of whom I am chief”. This is why confession is a sacrament, because it is Christ who judges us justly and then chooses to forgive us everything we ask of Him. This is why scandal is a choice; and if we choose to be scandalised we are actually choosing to stand in judgement and making someone else’s sin about us. If all you can see of a man is his sin, you have no love for him and do not see him as Christ sees him.

A legally wedded Muslim couple from Bangladesh visited Saudi Arabia for Umrah. The husband wanted a honeymoon in Nepal but the wife preferred an Umrah in Mecca, which has been a lifetime ambition for her. During the Umrah, the couple got overwhelmed with joy, hugged each other and shared a kiss. A Pakistani guy recorded the moment and shared it to the police. The Islam authorities got hold of the video and had the young couple arrested. Ordered their beheading. This couple got beheaded with sword and the executioner shouted Allahu Akbar! The bodies of the couple have been returned to Bangladesh in body bags.

This guy embodies one of the most popular archetypes used to bully white men throughout the world. Yet after being attacked, he gets back up, stands his ground, and faces his attackers to defend whatever remains of his store. His attackers, meanwhile, behave like a pack of hyenas. Whatever bravery they have is only because of their numbers and their de facto anonymity — police wouldn’t arrest them anyway. So, the guy who looks like the punchline of a thousand jokes actually displays more honor in a single moment than literally the entire recorded history of his attackers. He has no crowd to hide behind, no numerical advantage, and seemingly very little left to protect. What has happened to him will either be ignored or excused as having been caused by some kind of socio-economic problem which is ultimately his fault anyway. Nevertheless, he stands there. I would take one thousand Jacques Blacks before taking a single refugee.
