The perspective on what constitutes progress has changed over the centuries. Today’s cartoon by Wolfgang Ammer. More cartoons: buff.ly/x7tyKy6

ALT Two panel cartoon: the first panel is labeled ‘pre-industrial utopian’ and we see a forest with a cottage; a thought bubble emerging from the cottage shows a futuristic city of steel and concrete. The second panel is labeled ‘post-industrial utopian’ and we see a futuristic city of steel and concrete; a thought bubble emerging from the city shows a forest with a cottage.

The PA Fair Funding for schools trial begins today. May the children prevail! I'll be posting some of the many toons I've drawn on this state's pathetically unequal school funding. This from 2012 Daily News. #phled #FundOurSchoolsPA

We are disgusted and enraged to report that The Inquirer has laid off 5 of our members today.

Joyce Wilkerson doesn't just deserve to be on the @PHLschoolboard ...Philadelphia NEEDS her on the team. So, who is Joyce? Let's learn a little about her:
Joyce is selflessly committed to others. For almost double my lifetime, she has given her full self to serve others. 1/11

I've known Reggie Streater since law school and he is one person I know who is completely invested in making the Philadelphia School District better and better. The smear campaign by charter school interests sickens me and I hope he gets voted in again.

While no one should agree with public officials on everything, Joyce Wilkerson and Reg Streater routinely made the hard but right choices, despite the personal and political toll. To reject them would send a chilling message to future board members.

This was removed from all Gannett papers. It's a travesty for many reasons, + though GT is surely fine, it's another example of how conditions for cartoonists keep getting worse + worse: positions eliminated, cartoons with bite being purged, fees decimated, outlets disappearing.
