The people of Silicon Valley are unwell.
If you work at a frontier lab or decacorn, you’ve got it bad. You haven’t seen your kids, your girlfriend’s annoyed, invites from friends to hang out are waning, even weddings are on hold. This is the time to make your mark and make your money, after all.
If you’re building a startup that’s trying to compete with or be one of these companies, you’ve got it bad. Maybe you passed up a job offer at one a couple years back, which means you left $100M on the table, you fucking idiot. Being an underdog isn't as fun as you thought.
If you’re working on a pre-AI startup, you’ve got it bad. Not too long ago you were the belle of the ball, but now your 30% year-on-year growth doesn’t feel like growth at all. It feels like death.
"Too many of my friends are spiraling," Brie Wolfson writes. "I don’t know how we’re supposed to live and work like this."
It’s all too much, too fast. Too much money, too much growth, too much power, too much change. Every month, a new frontier model is released. Every day, a new unicorn is minted. Seriously. 300 days into the year 2026, and 311 unicorns have been minted so far.
So what’s left for the sane ones? Brie went looking for teams playing a different game. She found one in Ottawa: a search infrastructure company that many of the AI darlings rely on.
It's growing fast, and its people are well.

can’t even be bothered to find out what the $12.99 is from apple anymore
whatever bro just take it I got a lot going on
ok @DevinAI 🤌🤌, I have a lot more to say on this experience but this was an awesome email to get.
Context: I run hip4markets.com, mostly for fun and to play with @HyperliquidX prediction markets.
Devin started working on this repo today and sent me this email outside of our current work stream. Very classy tbh.
Yes Devin, you can absolutely be the second reviewer on this 😄😄
Digging deeper, this was made possible by @DevinAI automations, which I asked it to suggest at the beginning of our work stream. The automations are all ready to go in the desktop app as well as in that email. Awesome 🔥

The same indices behind CME futures and the ETFs, now signed and verifiable onchain. Big day for the @CFBenchmarks team. xitter.gq/PaywardServices/status…
CFB Oracle is live.
The same UK BMR-regulated CF Benchmarks indices behind CME futures and ETFs, now with cryptographic proof of origin that any smart contract can verify.
Don’t trust. Verify.

Its kind of amazing to me that ratings for the Simpsons is still around 570,000 to 1 million live.

80% of this is common knowledge.
The 20% juice is
- Change your PR Template to contain Risk, How to revert
- Classify PRs to figure out how many review cycles are needed between Agent PR Author and Agent Code Reviewer based on blast radius and risk
- Steal the modern PR etiquette from the article

HIP-4 next.
Payward, the parent company of Kraken, announced its intention to be the first CFTC-regulated deployer on HIP-3* markets. Payward will use Hyperliquid as the infrastructure layer to deploy perpetual futures markets for US clients. Subject to regulatory approval, Bitnomial, Payward’s CFTC-regulated DCM and DCO, would act as the HIP-3* deployer: creating, owning, and administering the markets and clearing and settling the contracts. If approved, NinjaTrader Clearing, Payward’s CFTC-registered FCM, would carry client accounts.
HIP-3 will support optional deployer configuration for permissioned markets in a future network upgrade. This set of additional deployer functionality is collectively called HIP-3*. At its core, HIP-3* activation involves an onchain allowlist managed by the deployer or its sub-deployers. The functionality is strictly additive to HIP-3; its use is optional and up to the deployer. Existing markets remain unchanged. The initial release is available on testnet, where specifications are preliminary and subject to change based on feedback.
Hyperliquid is a neutral infrastructure layer with the goal of supporting large parts of the financial system. HIP-3* gives deployers additional functionality to operate deployments consistent with the requirements applicable to them. As with HIP-3, HIP-3* deployers are independent operators who use Hyperliquid as the onchain infrastructure layer for their own markets, while retaining control and responsibility over their deployment.
