This dropped last week! Such a great time presenting a paper on Freddy's mutations throughout the Nightmare on Elm Street films.
My only regret: presenting it on my phone! Technology failed me - but my fellow panellists were incredible, as was the chair. I'd love to do it again!

Enormously privileged to have been a part of this. Slasher Studies really gave me the confidence to pursue academia a bit more & connected me with some really cool people - so do tune in every week! My inarticulate ramblings about Freddy Krueger will turn up at some point...!
Finally, @wick85c and I are delighted to announce that proceedings from The Slasher Studies Summer Camp: An International Conference on Slasher Theory, History and Practice are being made publicly accessible on YouTube. Uploads every Thursday! #SlasherStudies

Celebrating 25 years of Scream, I’ll be kickstarting @MiskatonicIHS London’s Spring Season on January 11th @ 7pm GMT. I’ll be talking about the gay screenwriters of contemporary teen slasher to ask one simple question: are these films “pastiche,” “postmodern,” or just plain camp?
Slash your way into the new year with @MiskatonicIHS & @DanielJSheppard as he slices and dices his way through the 90s Slasher.

He said he loved my scarf, which made my life...! So cool meeting Robert Englund a couple of weeks ago at LFCC (and rocking the Freddy's Dead 3D glasses, because that film rocks(!), it made my last MA essay come together & was the basis for my @SlasherStudies paper!) @rtalalay

I am thinking about my @SlasherStudies paper about genre and gesture (as I'm Writing It Up™️). The case I used was examining the construction of genre during viewing. But the divisive discourse amongst horror fans on #Kills is certainly further evidence. Gestural genre tweeting.

Tomorrow’s lecture/seminar is revised and finalised and DAMN, it’s good, featuring some of the incredible work presented at the @SlasherStudies Summer Camp in August 🤓📚🎉

I find these debates interesting bc they support the idea that, for many fans, the final girl & killer must both be present for a reboot to be valid. You see this w Sidney/Ghostface and Laurie/Myers.. only makes sense if final girls are seen as the story anchor @SlasherStudies
