Yes. T8 failed because it went overboard making everyone too strong and Heat too powerful of a mechanic. There's too many overtuned moves that accomplish too many things and not enough clear weaknesses in a characters gameplay.

people who like older tekkens but hate tekken 8. was there a way for them to try new things and keep it fresh without “ruining” the game? if so, what would that actually look like? or would you have liked tekken 8 to basically just be the older tekkens but with better graphics?

Also if you're going to incorporate additional mechanics to the characters then it should be unique. Instead 8 adds stances and installs to a bunch of characters with zero regard for their gameplay identity.

Combination of single player features and SF6 having a mostly positive PR. Playing 1v1 2D games is also less daunting to newcomers and the fact that outside content creators such as Tyler1 showcased that even low skilled players can have fun in ranked.
