Last December, there was a special election in TN-7 and we tried an experiment: What would happen if I stood at the Big Board and narrated the results as they came in? Just the numbers, one county at a time, without punditry, until we got a result. Would anyone watch?
About 750,000 did that night. The response was staggering. So we decided to do it for the entire 2026 primary season - which concluded last night with the RI Gov. primary. 21 livestreams, ranging from last night's 22-minute sprint to the 7+-hour SC/WI marathon of August 11, and more than 40 million views across all of them.
We are trying to reimagine what the election night experience can be. To those who've been watching, your response has served as powerful proof of concept. If you've helped us spread the word (a livestream can be tough to find!), I can't thank you enough. Nor can I adequately express my appreciation for all the folks here at NBC who have made this happen these last 9 months.
Please know that this is just the start. And please let us know what you think -- what worked, what didn't, what could we do to make these better?
And now it's on the general election.*
(*Sorry, Delaware! If there were a little more drama, believe me we'd do it!)

One more to go, with Chris Collins (R-Fla.) running in FL19. Collings previously was a House member from New York.

VA Dems continued to enjoy a more efficient coalition than they've had in past years. Spanberger carried 52 of 100 HoD districts by more than her statewide 15.4% margin.
In 2017 & 2021, only 49 of the current districts were more Dem than the state overall.

Of U.S. states named after a woman (three by our count) Virginia is the first to elect a woman as governor. (VA & WV named after Elizabeth I & MD after Queen H. Maria, wife of King Charles I). Four states if you include CA & fictional Queen Calafia.

NV's voter registration trends continue to be...insane:
In August, nearly 11K new indies came on line while the Dems lost 744 voters and the Rs 754.
Ds lead Rs by 3,765 voters out of 2.1 million, or .17%.
Major parties now make up under 57% of NV's active voters.
