For months, players will abuse whatever overtuned hero happens to be dominating the meta, defending their absurd damage, excessive mobility, or overwhelming agency as perfectly reasonable expressions of skill. But the moment Valve finally guts their hero, suddenly the conversation shifts. Was their hero overtuned? Was their ELO inflated by an inherently forgiving kit? Could their sudden decline in performance have anything to do with them being #METASLAVES? Has it always been Yoshi’s fault? Of course not. It’s Shiv. Their hero could receive three consecutive nerfs, lose half its damage, and become borderline #GUTMOGGED, and somehow the conclusion would still be that Shiv needs another round of nerfs.
