#InternationalSnowLeopardDay | 23 October The Ghost of the Mountains: Guardian of the High Himalayas. From the rugged Himalayas and Tibetan Plateau to the high mountains of Central and South Asia, the snow leopard thrives in some of the world’s most challenging landscapes. Yet, its survival is closely intertwined with the health of these fragile mountain ecosystems. As an apex predator, the snow leopard plays a vital ecological role by regulating wild prey populations and helping maintain the balance of mountain food webs. Its conservation is intrinsically linked to the protection of high-altitude biodiversity and the livelihoods of communities that depend on these landscapes. Beyond ecology, the snow leopard holds cultural and spiritual significance across parts of Central Asia and the Himalayan region, symbolising the mystery, resilience and majesty of the mountains. This International Snow Leopard Day, let us recognise that protecting the snow leopard means protecting an entire mountain ecosystem, its wildlife, its communities and its natural heritage. The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) reaffirms the importance of international cooperation and collective action in advancing big cat conservation across their range. #SnowleopardConservation #IBCAForBigcats #ProtectHabitat @moefcc @SAWENsec @SoumitraIfs @SPYadavIFS @IUCN @IRALE @WWF @WWFINDIA @FAO @Sankala_India @UNDP_India @UNEP @wii_india @PantheraCats @CougarConserv @IndiaIucn @snowleopards @Unitedfortigers @World_Wildlife @WCO_OMD @themobiusfound @CCFCheetah @UNWTO @UNDPasiapac @UNDPplanet @IoraEcological @EarthBrigadeIN @AmurTigerCenter @indfoundation @ciicesd @PwC_IN @IraleInfo @snowleopards @SnowLeopardNet
