Hi, I'm Sofwan. I'm a Software Engineer (Backend), I write nice software engineering articles. Follow me and Check out my blog at SofwanCoder.com for some awesome stuff π
I've been building @dropstationapp, and I think it's time I started talking about it properly.
It's a platform I've been working on, and I'm genuinely excited about what it can become.
Let me tell you about it. π§΅
I'm putting this out here because I want to build @dropstationapp more openly and get more people involved in the journey.
I'd love for you to check it out, try what's available, and tell me what you think.
What works? What's confusing? What would make you come back?
@dropstationapp is live at dropstation.app
Come check it out. And if you find it interesting, share it with someone who might enjoy it too.
This is the beginning of something I'm excited to improve on.

I grew up playing The Sims 3 and always wondered what it would be like if the Sims lived in a world inspired by ours.π€·π½ββοΈ
Then I saw @eureka_seamless riding a danfo through Lagos, and it sparked an idea: Lagos Life Sims.
Take a look around. Who knows, you might make a new friend in the Sims world.

"I spent a lot of time going over the design decisions involved here, trying my best to complain about async Rust, only to end up going βOh. Yeah. Thatβs reasonable. That makes sense. I can see why they did it that way.β every step of the way."

something bambooβs team couldnβt do they didπ. saw a screenshot where they had 37k db requests and response time was still 26ms. you can talk about their UI being vibecoded but the app logic was definitely not

Before v1.99 β Rust could only consume C variadic functions.
With 1.99 β Rust can also produce them.

i don't get the opinions that rust reads terrible. i think it's quite neat
This perspective only makes sense if you've been programming with Ruby's nonsense.
Rust is so easy to read that I can absorb entire enterprise codebases in a single evening and immediately start working on it.
I'm not even particularly good at Rust but very productive.

Yes, you can STOP writing code by hand.
But only if you WERE doing it for years.
Then you can prompt and review wisely, and keep the quality high.
If you never wrote code by hand and think you don't need to learn it...
Well, good luck.
