The answer, of course, is "it depends"™️. But the answer is also Fable 5.
There is a ton of data and nuance in the post from @rami__maalouf below (and the video) so please take a look to get the full picture.
TL;DR: Fable 5 writes less code, better code, produces better results, is faster, and is more expensive. GPT 5.6 is relentless. It's great for challenging, well defined problems that might take a while.

.@f_rtz has pointed me in the direction of an interesting engineering thesis looking at the heat applications from electrolyser heat losses. The thesis assesses two use cases. Onshore use of the heat for district heating and offshore use for desalination.
